Exactly!

Another call the official came in from out of position and made, causing a major problem. When you are constantly not in position to make the call and continue to dominate the officiating, it is time to hang it up!

Elliott County 79 Rowan County 50
If Elliott had continued to pass and shoot the way they did in the first quarter it would have been a 50 point game. Way too much one on one stuff in the second and third quarters along with the fact they just could not buy a bucket, mostly on wide open looks. They got back to the team concept some in the 4th quarter and started making a few shots. By far the worst performance of the year and they still win by 29. Good teams find a way to win on bad nights. I was impressed with the way they kept playing good defense even when the shots were not falling, another mark of a good team.

East played a solid defensive game and West flat out coould not shoot. Barker only got 8 shots and 3 of them were forced. The technical was weird because the refs couonted the basket and called a charging foul. I won't name names, but the gray headed official should have retired 10 years ago. He was far more visible than the West Carter offense. Sagraves was a big force for East and in the second half Tyler Jackson got more involved and made a couple of dandy assists on fast break opportunities.

16th Region All A Discussion
You can never be sure of anything in the 16th. I would bet Elliott will prepare as if they are the underdog. Fairview is one team to watch. Rex may try something crazy!

16th Region Power Rankings
From my observations and from strength of schedule, Rose Hill should be at least #7...but with the pollsters subjective opinion factored in as it is in your poll, there is no real way to tell how won-lost records or strength of schedule can effect your poll. How can you determine "how a team is playing" with any level of objectivity and without seeing every team play?

Litkenhouse Rankings December 27th
After the first 10 players, Elliott has virtually noone with really any JV game time prior to this year. You must put kids in situations where they have some chance of success. As soon as Elliott put in the two younger guards the other teams immediately use their starters and press. These players can learn nothing by not being able to get the ball across half court as the other team tries to avoid embarassment by forcing turnovers. That being said, Elliott would be well advised to allow the bench a little more time, if only to keep the starters fresh later in the season. That's only an opinion and a coach with Mays' experience certainly has earned the right to do what is right for his team. I have seen the JV play and I am not of the opinion that Elliott should dress any more than 10 for varsity games. Those kids need to learn how to play at a level where they can be competitive before they are promoted to the varsity. Small school's talent runs in cycles. This level of talent comes around very rarely, if ever, and regardless of playing time Elliott will certainly slip in a couple of years.

Ashland/ Fairview thoughts?
Rexy may get a good win here, but it will be close.

Litkenhouse Rankings December 27th
Let's see how this works. Team A's kids worked their tails off every summer for several years to become a good team...team B took the summers off and just put enough into the game to make the team. Now Team A is required to let their starters sit over half the game because Team B might get their feelings hurt. Give me a break!

Litkenhouse Rankings December 27th
You obviously know very little about the situation at Elliott County and have clearly not seen any of their games. It is a shame some posters feel the need to take shots at programs about which they know absolutely nothing! And while we are at it, explain what possible benefit there is to a school outside of Jefferson County to run up scores to improve rankings. Exactly what difference does it make where a school is ranked in the Lit Ratings?

Boys Class A Favorites
My belief is that Fairview is the only Class A school that has a remote chance of challenging Elliott in the Class A.

Cov Cath 76 Elliott Co 62
Good defense and taking care of the ball wins games. CovCath did both. Their ranking is well deserved. Elliott will learn from this game and the tournament experience will only help them down the road.

Rule Question
If that is what happened, then it was a poor piece of officiating. If the kid was a good enough actor to make the ref think he was severely injured then the ref did the right thing in thinking he was protecting or helping a severely injured player. Like most of the calls, it is a judgment call.

Cov Cath vs Elliott Co..Predictions
I think if you will check the stats you will see he doesn't need that many shots since he is shooting around 44% on three pointers alone. Again, I don't have any illusions about this game. It should be a good one, but let's assume a kid shoots a ton of shots just because he scores a lot of points. With Elliott's style of play they have 3-4 kids who could score 30 on a given night. This is not a game where Elliott will score at will and they know it. I look forward to watching the show!

Cov Cath vs Elliott Co..Predictions
That is just the way it is in the 62nd. I think the favorite in the game has to be CovCath, but I am sure it will be one of the better games. It may come down to which team can impose its tempo on the other. I don't think Catholic can run and gun with Elliott, but I don't see Elliott handling Catholic in a half court game either. Should be a great game.

Cov Cath vs Elliott Co..Predictions
You haven't seen me predict a big win. I know what a tough game this will be. When you have to play conference and in a seeded district there are only so many other games you can schedule. This tourney, the game at mason County, the Bourbon County showcase and Huntington High School have added quite a bit of muscle to the schedule. I don't think any game was scheduled to pad anybody's stats. The vast majority of the games were required through seeding and conference rules.

Manual 74 Rose Hill 49
He still ahd a pretty big scoring game. I didn't see the game. What happened to Euton? (7 points) Rose Hill needs him to be productive offensively to be competitive with good teams.

Cov Cath vs Elliott Co..Predictions
Elliott plays man almost exclusively with a lot of trapping on the ball. It is a very swarming type defense that takes advantage of their quickness.

Elliott County 80 Grace Academy, TN 72
Hopefully, that will come as he continues to log playing time with the others. He is very young and gets frustrated quickly. The rest have learned to accept the bad things that always happen in a game and play through it.

Cov Cath vs Elliott Co..Predictions
Good observation. Elliott's limited use of substitutions may hurt in a long touornament like this one.

Cov Cath vs Elliott Co..Predictions
I guess Elliott County and it's little weak schedule really doesn't belong on the floor with the great Northern Kentucky schools. I'm sure they will show up and try to give CovCath a little competition before they go back to playing "Directional Carters".:fire::fire:
