  1. Can't see Rowan as high as 4 or Morgan as low as 12. Russell is 1st and Rose Hill has earned the #2 spot.
  2. Those kids get along. I do not see selfishness as the problem, just shot recognition along with a defense that gives up the drive way too easy immediately followed bya reaching foul. Elliott will work it out. The players will see to that if the coaches cannot.
  3. Back in the day I was one who bashed Rose Hill and the transfers. This team is different. I have watched most of the major players play together for years in the AAU program. Rose Hill did it right this time and I wish them nothing but the best of luck. They are now the Class A region favorite until Elliott County can learn to play interior defense and figure out what a good shot is versus a bad shot. Even with Elliott hitting on all cylinders that match-up could be a classic, if it happens.
  4. Elliott seems to have some players who don't know a good shot from a bad one and the point on dribble penetration defense was right on point. But, when you are playing that many young players, maturity will solve some of the problems. I agree thaey have not proven themselves to be a top 5 team right now. East Carter is well coached. They were patient and executed a well-designed gameplan that controlled tempo and got good shots. Baker is proving to be one of the best.
  5. From what I've seen, the kids at most schools seem to be friends off the court and for the most part friendly rival on the court. It appears to me the "problems" come from the supposed adults.
  6. They will be fine by middle of season. Too good of a coach to slide that bad.
  7. I can't find that either Wireman. I think it will be close. These two always go at each other hard.
  8. Cubster, no offense meant. I didn't check to see when poll was done. Your rankings are usually right on target, especially in a region that no one can really predict on a nightly basis. My main point is that Rose Hill has probably matured quicker than many of thought.
  9. Back to the poll---Rose Hill is clearly number 2 after win over Central. Wireman, Rowan ain't bad, but don't get carried away yet and put them in number 2 spot. Russell stays at 1 and the next 4 are up for grabs. Rose Hill has had the most impresive wins of the young season to date and deserve to be #2.
  10. The Hill is clearly a regional contender a year ahead of schedule. They will be a tough out in any tourney in this region, Class "A", District or Regional.
  11. Handshakes? of course, Hicks won.
  12. Loss to raceland in opener hurts Elliott in rankings, but probably was good for them.
  13. Great win on the road for Elliott in a game played at a slower pace. That is the kind of game they have to learn to win and they seem to be doing it.
  14. Listen up. Mason would kill anybody in this region. I'm not going to base my opinion of Ashland's season on this game. They will be right there at the end of the season. However, I think many schools in the region are no longer letting the name on the jersey beat them.
  15. I keep saying they will contend next year and may this year. Look at Elliott last year. Young teams just keep getting more and more experience and confidence as the season goes on. They have a ton of talent. Nice win.
  16. Elliott has to control the tempo to keep it close. They have no defense inside. Ferguson is tough, but no size. Greene will not be able to stay out of foul trouble. he is a banger, but he has to learn to do it without getting all the fouls. That being said, if Elliott can get out and run like it did against West Carter, it could be a tough night for Boyd. Who knows?
  17. #1-Russell, then take your pick. Rowan is playing strong without Daniel. Elliott loses to Raceland and then looks decent in a win over East and a loss to Russell and blows out West. Ashland loses to Boyd. Rose Hill just hasn't played anyone yet. Morgan scores 29 against West, and Greenup plays Russell down to the wire even with a lunatic for a coach. Usual start for our Region.
  18. Wireman, this time you might be off. Rose Hill is easily top half of the Region this year and most likely a contender next year. I would not underestimate them. I've watched them progress through AAU and Middle School and the talent level is high, though still a bit young.
  19. Elliott played well and Russell played well, hitting the big last shot. Elliott will probably outhustle everyone they play, but that will only take you so far with a complete lack of size. Ferguson is tough in the paint, but still undersized and he is not getting much help. And for those who doubted VanHoose as a D-1 player...you are dead wrong. He can play as a freshman and he will develop into a solid D-1 player.
  20. If Elliott plays like they did in the 1st half against East Carter it will be a close game. If they play like they did after halftime, Russell will win big.
  21. There was nobody near Faulkner on the last shot and there was no push off, just a good move by the kid. The problem is there should have been no need for a game winning shot if Elliott had taken care of business earlier in the second half.
  22. There is no red light. But, I'm sure most FANS of basketball will know where Sandy Hook is before the season is over. Elliott plays hard and if they can overcome a severe lack of an inside game they may find their way back deep into the tournament.
  23. Elliott played some very selfish ball in the second half and East started making some shots. Mays will never use his bench or develop a bench. He never has. Elliott worked the ball well in the second half but then all of a sudden for no reason a player would just throw up a shot. They allowed East to get back in the game by not playing smart and it appeared a couple of kids were more intent on stats than on taking care of business and puting the game away when they had a chance. Rebounding and interior defense became a problem and East is not a big team. Some things are going to have to change for Elliott to make the run they made last year, Weddington is greatly missed and Mays needs to work on improving his bench and giving them a chance. Some starters looked tired and a little sloppy at the end and the free throw shooting was horrible.
  24. 1. Russell 2. Greenup 3. Elliott 4. Ashland 5. Morgan 6-12 any order except 13-16 13. Lewis 14. Menifee 15. Fleming 16. Bath
