Lee has played in the all a tournament which they absolutely dominated (beat Cordia 9-1 by the way), rained out against Perry Central, and soundly defeated Estill, who, like Leslie , has a win over Clark County. Lee will play Clark, Leslie twice PCC, Madison Southern, Clay County, Garrad County and other top teams. I would say beating Estill is as impressive as beating Clark, particularly with Estill's win over Clark.

Atticus, you mess up Matt's knee playing pickup basketball,and us Lee County baseball fans will come hunting you with his aluminum bats!

Estill jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, but Corey Thomas settled in, Lee scored the next 9 before Estill picked up one in top of the seventh. Nice district win for Lee.

I agree Green Machine, and that is basically the point I was making earlier about Lee County's pitchers. They have the two top men, Osbourne and Thomas, and then Matt Perkins as the number three, who appears to me to be an unusually good third pitcher for a school the size of Lee, and that really gives them an edge in tournament such as the All A region. Josh Drake is not bad either. Small schools usually are at a pitching disadvantage, just because of numbers, but Lee is unusually deep on the mound this year, so the "chance" you correctly refer to is not as great this year for the Bobcats as it is most years at schools like Lee and Owsley.

I thought 15 would be an awfully lot of strikeouts, especially with the score what it was.

First baseman is Matt Eversole, missed all of last year with a knee injury, and you are right, he can play. Look at him next time and imagine what kind of football player this kid would have been if he had been someplace where e could have played.

I don't see Estill being last in 56th.

Also, Professor, that really runs the pitch count up. At Lee County, some years ago, I am sure you remember Shawn Little. He was as good a pitching prospect as has been around in the mountains in some time. He was 14th region MVP as a junior and had much interest at the next level. Early in his senior year his arm just went "POP" during a game and his career as a pitcher was over. He played some college ball at Morehead and Cumberland, and some Frontier League ball as an outfielder, but potential was never realized. You just can't be too careful with these young arms, and that is the point I believe you were making earlier about Smith's pitch count. I hope someone is listening to your wise old self!

Two big wins for Leslie. I dont know much about Somerset or Paintsville this year yet, but if the past is any indication, one would think that at least one of them would field a very competitive team.

If he struck out 15 of the 21 outs, and Hazard still scored 10 runs in 7 innings, either a lot of hits in between or Owsley needs to work on defense.

Lee has three pitchers that would easily be the top starter on most other teams in the region, Jason Osbourne, Corey Thomas and Matt Perkins, plus up and comer Josh Drake. Lee only gave up one run in the tournament, and Thomas has yet to throw a pitch. That really gives them an edge at the small school level, where most teams will only have a couple of true starters, and then they are limited by how much they can throw in a week. Add Lee County's solid defense and the fact that there is not a weak spot in the batting order, plus their experience and top notch coaching, and I really believe they can make some noise in the All A state level. Two big region games early next week against PCC and Estill will be fun to watch.

Jason Osbourne one hits Owls. Lee outscores opponents 34-1 in 14th region All A, and plays only 15 innings over three games. That is about as dominant as it gets.

Lee has soundly defeated Owsley. Was able to hear end of the game but couldn't catch the score. Did hear that Jason Osbourne pitched one hitter, and that Lee was ahead big after first inning.

Lee has teo strong pitchers, Thomas and Osborne left.

Jason Osborne hit long two run opposite field home run, Martin Hobbs hit one inside the park. Matt Perkins struck out last five JBS hitters, and pitched strong game. Lee plays winner of Owsley/Hazard game. Hazard finished up Wolfe County game before coming to Booneville, and won, but I do not know score.

Riehard has 5-1. Report I had was 9-1, from two different people that I am sure were at the game. I am probably wrong as I was unable to attend game myself. Anybody know for sure?

No details, only that game was called after 5 because of darkness.

I thought I posted on this thread last night! Anyway, said the best team won. Day, Morgan, and point guard (I think Howard) too much for Lee. Leslie made a believer out of me. I've not seen either Hazard or JBS, but I can say that they have work cut out for them with Leslie. Lee County Bobcats can take pride in bringing excitement back to Beattyville after a long time. 24-8, all a region champs, district champs, Not a bad season. The old BadCat has clubs out and is heading south for a few days, so won't be posting for a while, and just wanted to make sure I got on here and ate those words, Leslie fans, like I said I would!

Somewhere in twenties maybe, but 30 points is a mighty big boast. Morgan is good, no doubt, but so are some of the guys that will be defending him. Again, I hope Leslie's coaches and players are taking the same attitude as some of the fans here, but I don't think so. If any player for Leslie scores 30, I'll tip my hat, say great game enjoyed watching it and go home!

Good game for JBS. I am suprised about Estill's crowd not being there though. Maybe too far from Irvine to Hindman on a week night?

Morgan may be good, but he won't score 30 against Lee. If that it what it takes, Leslie can't win.

I had forgotten about Jackson being in the 56th, but I will say that I believe '87 Wolfe team was the best 14th region team to not play in the state tournament. They were excellent, but lost in a heartbreaker to Hazard in OT in Memorial Gym. Lee beat M.C. Napier that night and lost to Hazard in final. One of the most exciting nights of high school basketball I can remember.
