BadCat Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Jason Osbourne one hits Owls. Lee outscores opponents 34-1 in 14th region All A, and plays only 15 innings over three games. That is about as dominant as it gets.
*The Prophet Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Lee Co. was a better team than the owls on this night. Lee hit the ball extremely well. The score would have been closer if not for the first inning by the Owls.
Big Game Player Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Good run for the Owls to make it this far , its been a while, and congrats to Lee for Winnig the all a and good showing. Lee looks to be pretty tough and very dominate againest most teams in the 14th. This distric should be extremely tough with the addition of Estill now in the mix.
Big Game Player Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Who pitched for the Owls and was there any homers in this one by either team?
LeeCoBobcatFan Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I believe Congleton pitched for the Owls and there were no homers in this game. Congleton looked a little unsettled all night and seemed to have difficulty with control, throwing behind batters and hitting three ... maybe more. He really seemed out of his element, which is not like him at all. Hope everything is all right. Lee's fielding did a great job too. Congrats Bobcats, and Congrats to Owsley for making it to the finals.
Master D Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 The Owls Defense hurt them in this game. They made way to many errors in this game. IMO that was the deciding factor in the game.
The Professor Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Congratulations to the Owls for their runner-up finish in the All A. They simply ran up against a powerful opponent in the Lee Bobcats. Lee possibly has the best team in the region. However, I think the Owls will improve every game and the next time these two meet should be a more competitive contest. The 56th district is loaded this year imo. I'm looking forward to the games between Lee and Leslie later in the season. Those should be dandies.
sixtyfeetsix Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 No excuses..but the Owls battled in two hard fought games to get to the Championship game against Lee. Lee Co had the easier road so they were able to hold back their "aces". When the Owls play Lee again, things will be different. Lee County is an extremely sound fundamental baseball team. They are a pleasure to watch. True baseball fans will agree. The Owls are no where close to being down, they will continue to better themselves and will be a tough opponent all season for any team. The top 5 hitter's for the Owls are having great seasons. I told you to watch out for the Owls!
sixtyfeetsix Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Almost forgot......Lee County's pitcher threw an outstanding ball game. You can tell he is coached well, and that he has tremendous control. Lee Co also has two other excellent pitcher's, which will make them tough all season. Coach Combs has an excellent ball team. I do believe that the Owls would like another shot at them with there "actual line-up" in place. Should be a great one!
sixtyfeetsix Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Lee County's pitcher held the Owls to one hit, which says a lot. Owsley had previously scored 11, 11 and 12 in their first 3 games. I'm sure the Owls will get another shot at him. Owsley has Lee scheduled twice during the regular season.
BadCat Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Lee has three pitchers that would easily be the top starter on most other teams in the region, Jason Osbourne, Corey Thomas and Matt Perkins, plus up and comer Josh Drake. Lee only gave up one run in the tournament, and Thomas has yet to throw a pitch. That really gives them an edge at the small school level, where most teams will only have a couple of true starters, and then they are limited by how much they can throw in a week. Add Lee County's solid defense and the fact that there is not a weak spot in the batting order, plus their experience and top notch coaching, and I really believe they can make some noise in the All A state level. Two big region games early next week against PCC and Estill will be fun to watch.
sixtyfeetsix Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 There 1st baseman can absolutely kill a baseball. He just has that baseball player "look". He is fun to watch play the game. Lee will be tough, but the Owls want them again with their better pitcher's on the hill. It will be a different ball game then. The Owls will have to play flawless defense to hang with Lee County, and the Owls did not have their bats going either. The pitcher had them right where he wanted them. I will see you at the next game, and hopefully Robert or Jason will be ready to hurl. Should be a fun one to watch..as all of the 56th district games will be this year.
BadCat Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 First baseman is Matt Eversole, missed all of last year with a knee injury, and you are right, he can play. Look at him next time and imagine what kind of football player this kid would have been if he had been someplace where e could have played.
bigcat44 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Almost forgot......Lee County's pitcher threw an outstanding ball game. You can tell he is coached well, and that he has tremendous control. Lee Co also has two other excellent pitcher's, which will make them tough all season. Coach Combs has an excellent ball team. I do believe that the Owls would like another shot at them with there "actual line-up" in place. Should be a great one! What is their actual line-up?? And if you are complaining about the burning out your aces during the "harder road", last time i checked the team that wins the region has to play 3 games in the tournament, which means that if Owsley is to win the region they better get used to winning with Congleton on the mound.
GreenMachine Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Who was complaining. Lee has a very, very good team. I don't think that was ever in question. Owsley did pretty well getting where they got. In the region Lee will have to use their aces at the beginning also. Or take a chance.
