I could do without parents in the stands that yell instructions to the coaches or remarks at the officials. You do know that they can't hear you, correct? It's outdoor with so much background noise and in most cases you're 100's of feet away at the very least. Also, do you see how hard it is for a coach to get a player's attention from the sidelines? The kids don't hear you either! Not to mention they are wearing helmets and concentrating on more important things than what you think should be happening! Cheer, yell, make noise, "BOO" if you prefer or support in any way. But when you are trying to interject instructions or opinions, you really look foolish.

Well, when you give up 8 touchdowns in a game, you get a lot more possessions. They didn't let Scott hold on to it very long.

Many of the public schools have made progress catching up to the majority of the pack. However, as stated above, the 3 from Louisville and NDA are currently so far ahead of the rest that I don't see anyone outside that group challenging in the next couple years. However, our memories do tend to be short term. St. Henry made the trip from the 9th in '04, '05, '06 and '10. And while NCC was in the 10th region they played champion Mercy closer than anyone else in a state semi-final match. The tide can turn, but as it stands now, the volleyball elite has a very limited membership in the state.

This is extremely inaccurate. A fully funded D1 girl's program has 12 full scholarships and they are not permitted to split them. Many female athletes in NKY will receive full volleyball scholarships.

I think the 1A v 2A does make a difference in Brossart's success this season. I believe that the numbers have and will increase knowing that they won't be playing NCC, Lloyd and Newport every year. With increased numbers, depth improves and that leads to more success with the schedule they play. I also think this schedule was perfect for the year they needed to have. Wins over Ludlow and Bellevue make this a good year. Aiken, although a terrible team, presents a different style of play and helps prepare them for a team like Paris. I do think they should keep a Holy Cross, Holmes or Newport on the schedule to increase local interest and respect.

Better tournament with just those four teams or whole premier league?

The 32 teams in a football class is hardly comparable to the parity found in the NFL. Come the beginning of November we will see the first 3-4 rounds of the football state championship filled with scores of 70 - 0. There will be mismatches and lopsided scores all the way through the state semi-finals. Last year 1A semi-final score of 34 - 8 Last year 2A semi-final score of 43 - 14 with running clock for complete 2nd half Last year 3A semi-final score of 33 - 0 Last year 5A semi-final score of 33 - 7 Last year 6A semi-final score of 48 - 0 with running clock for complete 2nd half For a good football team, they find very little competition in their class until state final or semi-final at best.

The tournament also included the teams ranked at #7, #45, #5, #27, #63, & #30. So it appears to be a pretty nice tournament to win. I find it amazing what some of the NKY schools are able to do with the limited resources and small student body they have. NCC has only 2 games remaining on their regular season schedule, playing Cooper and ND in the coming week. Both are schools with approximately 4 times the enrollment and I expect the Breds to be very competitive in both.

It's all comparative. It looks to me like a tremendous accomplishment for a school with what, 150 girls in the school! Of course it is harder to win the Kentucky State Tournament, all of the teams are included! It appears that you're trying to diminish this accomplishment and the All A in general.

I wouldn't know where to find state rankings so help me out. Are those the state rankings for Class A schools? I imagine when you play teams from other areas of the state, their soccer may not be at the same level. Where are NCC, Bishop Brossart, Owensboro Catholic, St. Henry, Danville and Lexington Christian ranked?

For perspective, consider that it is harder to win an "All A" state title in a sport than it is to win a football state title. Football divisions have 32-34 teams in each class and the statewide "All A" forums can include up to 125 teams depending on the sport.

I've been to a couple HS games at Ludlow and it is a great place and atmosphere to watch a game. I've not been there for Homecoming but have heard they do a very nice job!

I don't think the records factor in here because of schedule strength, or lack there of. But Brossart does seem like they have found a way to win the close games so far and I would expect this to be a close game.

In general, kids probably have a better idea of what to be looking for as a line judge. Should be looking for foot faults by server, touches on blocks, balls outside the antenna, not just ball in or out. On the other hand, parents probably give a better effort. Most of the players doing it (not all) seem to be disinterested and their attention wanders. It can be very difficult for the officials to see block touches right in front of them because they are too close and can't see the line of flight change or the spin of the ball change. This is where the line judges can be most helpful if they are doing a good job. Other than that, I'd think the games might be better without inexperienced line judges. I've seen many balls called in or out that were obviously wrong to everyone in the gym and the official refuses to overrule, just accepting the easy way out.

If Juggs can win the turnover battle and get enough key stops, they can certainly score enough to make it interesting. I'm just not sure they can do both of those things.

Looking at scores (I know that doesn't always work), I'm afraid Garrard could be too much for the Juggs. Lloyd just gives up too many points.

I'd be surprised if this is competitive. 42 - 14 Beechies.

How dynamic is Conner's offense? Is it predominantly a run offense or more diverse?

For NKY? I don't know everyone's roster that well so this is strictly an estimate. I'd estimate an average of 5 or more players per graduating class in NKY get full scholarships to D1, D2 or NAIA schools. That number would be more than basketball and at least comparable to football with significantly fewer players. These are truly earned mostly through the players club associations rather than high school play. Colleges recruit exclusively through the club channels for 2 main reasons: 1) The high school and college seasons are played at the same time leaving no time for college coaches to travel to watch HS matches. Also, HS ball, for the most part, is not played at a very high level comparative to club volleyball. This is not specific to only volleyball and is the same in other sports. You will see college coaches at tournaments with a strong reputation (LIVT, Mother of Mercy Fall Classic, Durango, etc.). 2) A college coach can maximize their recruiting budget by traveling to HUGE club events and scout numerous players at the same time. These club qualifiers or other events can have as many as 120 courts all playing at one site. These events have mobile apps for the college coaches so they can get the exact schedule of all players on their recruiting list

Although I agree with Clyde that the primary focus should be on the benefits of playing high school sports more so than the goal of getting college paid for. However, In NKY, I would bet that the percentage of female volleyball players getting full athletic scholarships is significantly higher than in any other sport.

You're way off base with this. NCC will beat both Lloyd and Holy Cross very badly.

NCC had no problem driving to Ashland and actually looked forward to playing at the historic stadium. It was a return trip a day later that was a problem. Ashland is the quality of team they like to see prior to district play to get ready for the post season. One road trip like that each year makes for a better schedule and allows you to see different parts of the state.
