mountainwarrior replied to mountainwarrior's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
i dont see the wolves struggling too much they dont really have alot of size but they are very agrressive. most people dont know because the bench didnt get to show anything cause of the seniors from last year. -

Cody Gilbert Congratulated Jackson City
mountainwarrior replied to RoundLeather's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I just think that Gilbert was proud of the boys from Jackson and wanted to tell them that he appreciated them going out and playing hard and that they should keep their heads up because they did what eveyone thought they could do and that they should be proud. In a game the competitive juices are flowing and it easy easy for players to look like they hate each other, but of teh cort I woud say Gilbert respects every player on teh Jackson City team. -

Gilbert has the best potential to play atr the next level and be a good player. If you think that he has no chance tan there is definently noone in the 14th that has a good chance. We will all just have to wait and see what kind of college player he turns out to be. And IMO NAIA is more competitve than most D2 schools and he has already been offered a scholarship from Linsey-Wilson and a tryout with Mountain State, so I dont see how anybody can say he isnt good enough to play at the next level. He might not be going D1 but IMO NAIA is the next best. -
Jackson City 64 Wolfe County 62

The game was horribly called. I am not saying that that is why Wolfe lost but this game was just rancid. There was somewhere around 55 fouls called in this game. Unheard of in a district championship. I really thought that the kida never got to play this game out because every few seconds there was a whistle. To bad, made for a disappointing game. From what I saw Gilbert didnt throw a punch he pushed a kid. He was on the floor fighting for possesion when the whistle was blown. A few seconds after that a JC player prectically jumper on his back while he was down and he pushed him off. It wasnt a punch but even I must admit that I was Dissappointed tonight in Gilbert. He really let his emotions take too much control in this one. I would've liked to see these to teams get to play, without the refs taking center stage. -
Great post Dores4ever. Congrats Hazard. Good Luck against Leslie.

yes that is the reason not all the game stats have been posted. -
What about Adam Morrison and JJ Reddick? They both have huge offensive games, and not much defense. I would say that Gilbert plays alot better D than them and they are vying for player of the year in the nation. I would bet that Gilbert does more for his team on defense than anyone gives him credit for. But I am definently not saying he is a great ddefender, but he can be a good one and to quote Morrison "He is not just a chair out there".

I understand your vote but the question I have is what would happen if you put Rich on a team by himself, on a team with no experience at all? I dont htink he would've had near the year he has had. Lee is so good at every position that if you double down on the big man you will definently get beat so that is a hard point to argue. And for people saying that Gilbert doesnt elevate the levels of his teammates games I have to disagree. He started the year with one teammate who had seen significant varsity minutes and still kept his team competitive. What happened when he sat out lately, everything was harder on them. I think it is a mute point. Gilbert does more for his team than any other player in the region and IMO should be player of the year. You put any of the other top players on this WC team and I dont think they would've had bear a good of year as Gilbert has had and WC would definently not be better.

Gilbert's stats might be exaggerated but most people are arguing that the POY should be the player who did the most for their team and I would have to say that I havent seen a player do as much for their team as Gilbert does for Wolfe. Not only doe she lead his tam in points and rebounds but he leads them in assists and steals too. Any other player in the region do that? He does more too. He handles the ball majority of the time and is asked to play 32 minutes everynight while facing constant double teams. I dont think Wolfe lost games because they were interested with Gilbert's stats. They lost cause they lost. Another thing is who else in this region is asked to do what Gilbert does and performs thw way he does. He has done all he can for his twam and hopefully it pays off in the post season. He lead his team to do something that the best team in the region PCC couldn't do. Beat Hazard. I am not saying that they arent other good palyers in the region I am just saying that I beleive Gilbert is the POY simply because he is the player who is asked the most of and the player who does the most what else do you want?

What led to that quick change of heart Wooderson? IMO I think that the POY should be the player that played the best throughout the year. If his team didnt win you shouldn't hold that aginst him if he led his team in almost every possible stat category. If a player plays as well as he can and cant get his team over the hump, should it be held against him?

Morgan vs. West Carter
mountainwarrior replied to CougarsBestFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
MC should take the win. -
I agree Coach Wright has did a good job at Lee. It obviously helps him to have tons of talwnt but he has turned that groupd of boys into arguably the best team in the region. Good Job Coach Wright. Also the Coach at Jackson City has the be considered, he has turned that program around.
