Cody Gilbert was named KABC player of the year in the 14th. Like I have said before all of the coaches knew and it was just a matter of time before the fans knew. Congrats Cody on a fine season.

No surprises here. Congrats to Cody.

Congratulations to Cody. He's fought through injuries and ups and downs, but in the end he stood out a little more above the rest. Does anyone know what college he has committed to?

I don think he has committed yet.

The coaches knew he was the best senior. That is what this award is. This doesn't mean that all the coaches think he is the best player. That will come out when the coaches association votes later in the spring. I would imagine that Stepp (JBS), Hicks (Hazard), and Bailey (PCC) will garner some votes on the overall voting. But Gilbert is a very good player and I wish him the best.

Gilbert has real good offensive skills, but what about defense? But he did put up good numbers so I guess that was good enough for the people that voted for him.

What about Adam Morrison and JJ Reddick? They both have huge offensive games, and not much defense. I would say that Gilbert plays alot better D than them and they are vying for player of the year in the nation. I would bet that Gilbert does more for his team on defense than anyone gives him credit for. But I am definently not saying he is a great ddefender, but he can be a good one and to quote Morrison "He is not just a chair out there".

Congradulations to Gilbert on the honor. Does anyone know who is looking at him for college?

Congrats to Cody and best wishes down the road.

How and when is this decided?

It is based upon the other coaches in the reigon. He got the letter today saying he had won it.

Congrats to Gilbert. Though I thought others were before him, I dont vote in it.

And IMO they are in the best position to know. Congratulations to Cody.

I saw Union College folks at Breathitt for the Wolfe game the other night, can't imagine who else they would have been here to see.

Congrats to Cody :thumb: Union is a great college...education wise and thier basketball team is doing great too.

Union would be a great decision on his part.

I hear Lynsey Wilson is also interested in him. They are a great program too. They beat Georgetown College last weekend in convinciing fashion.

Good level for Gilbert. Linsey-Wilson in particular plays a competetive brand of basketball.
