Letcher County Central 102 Owsley County 55

I don't have any details but this is the final score. I thought the Owls would make a better showing than this. I barely could pick it up on the Whitesburg radio, but it sounded like they dug themselves a deep hole in the 1st quarter and never recovered.

Ouch.

Letcher played up to their potential on both ends tonight - very impressive. I think they had Owsley down 21-0 in the first quarter. Neeley and Smith both played. Good win for the Cougars.

Did Neeley play?

Yes. He had 19 points.

WOW I am shocked, thought Owlsey would make a game of it. LCC can play and better watch out for them in the regional.

That's what I'd like to know.

LCC lost at KCC a few weeks ago, and Owsley lost to KCC in OT last week. I figured this game would be an L for the Owls, maybe by 10 points. But not 47 points.

Never was a game from the start. Letcher jumped out big and never looked back, Owsley seemed nervous for some reason. Letcher was on fire. Eli Warren led them all night, he started off big to get the lead then dished off to get everyone else points. Owsley seemed to never find the bottom of the bucket, they got open shots but couldnt get anything to fall. Turnovers and rebounds was an enormous factor in this one, bad passing (not always due to Letcher's defense)and Eli Warren shooting the gap made Owsley's offense never start up. Letcher pulled some rebounds that was a questionable with an over the back call but outhustled and outplayed Owsley by far tonight. Very dissapointing game to witness when watching due to the size and caliber players that Owsley have. Should of never got this far out of hand.

Owsley needs to just forget this game and move on, nothing to learn from tonight.

Like I said, Owsley just couldnt get anything to fall. One of them nights for the Owls i guess. IMO Owsley didnt take the open shots they were given. In several instances Congelton, Neeley and Smith would catch it open on the wings for 1-3 secounds and then wait for the defense to rotate then try to drive by, they would then try to put the ball on the floor and dribble into the defense and dish out or try to put (not always contested shot) up on the run.Notselfishly just bad decision making. Owsley really didnt take bad shots, it was more of them trying to take the shot they preferred rather than taking the open shot they were given.

I guess they should just do what Tubby has decided to do at UK.....start a brand new season from here on out and get focused on a winning attitude. They can re-dedicate themselves starting with Breathitt County Thursday, and hopefully it will carry over to the district tournament.

Definately, "Tubby Theory" wouldnt be a bad ideal. Owls look this unfocused and shoot this bad come tounament time and it could look a lot worse than this down in Beatyville.

Hopefully the Owls will have a better showing than this againest the much improved Breathitt come Thursday.
