  1. I was impressed with Knott's defense but I don't see either team being a factor in the 14th. JBS beat Letcher by 7 in a great game but I will be very surprised to see either of these teams get within 10 points if them around tournament time.
  2. I'll take Hazard in a close one 65 - 60. I look for these two teams to really get after each other which will be a plus for Leslie in the finals. Can anyone tell me how the bracket would have been had they seeded. Either way there was going to be two very good teams playing each other in the first round.
  3. I don't understand it either. This kid has scored over 1,000 points and has been a top five rebounder in the state all year. When they feed him in the post he is very hard to handle and it appears tey have been going to him more in the past couple of games.
  4. I think this is Hazard's year because they aren't the clear favorite as in the past few years. Hazard by 4.
  5. I'll take JBS by 6 - I don't think KCC can stop Stepp and Cox.
  6. I'll take Hazard by 7. IMO Hazard is too athletic for JBS.
  7. It depends on which team shows up for Letcher. If its the team that played against KCC then I would definitely say Lee is better but if the team that played Owsley or the team that played Lee earlier in the season then I would say Letcher. Letcher is physical inside and their defense has greatly improved from earlier in the year but Lee is a better shooting team I'm sure - would be a great game IMO.
  8. Letcher played up to their potential on both ends tonight - very impressive. I think they had Owsley down 21-0 in the first quarter. Neeley and Smith both played. Good win for the Cougars.
  9. Hicks is definitely one of the better players in the region but I can't say he is the best. Although I have only seen each of them play once I was more impressed with the Stepp kid from JBS because he scored more off the dribble than just setting up for the three plus I think he is a better ball handler than Hicks. But as far as three pointers are concerned I'll take Hicks.
  10. I don't think KCC will be the same team on the road so I'm going with Owsley. I do agree that KCC is hard to beat at home which should make for some intersting tournament(s).
  11. In my opinion Warren had a subpar night - I would not have guessed him scoring in double digits. I was impressed with the athleticism of Hazard and the shooting of the Hicks kid - unbelievable. How many points does he average? Does Hazard live and die by Hicks' offense - looked like a totally different team when wasn't in there.
  12. I have seen them both play and in my opinion JBS has the better team. I know KCC has the home court advantage and they play really hard but I still predict JBS will win by 8 - 10.
  13. Knott County Central - District and Regional.
  14. I don't think his heart was in it anymore. He was getting plenty of playing time but he just wasn't having any fun. The other boys mainly quit because of playing time - they were starters last year and played the majority of the game. They will all regret it later in life.
  15. Alex Williams and Montana Gibson both quit recently as well as Adam Sexton. Alex will be missed expecially in close games because of his free-throw shooting. He shot over 90% from the line.
  16. LCC played their worst game of the year. I think they were 3 for 24 from the 3 pt. line. Both teams played good defensively but LCC could not get a shot to drop. It was like watching UK. I still think LCC will make it to the regionals.
  17. Lee-Champs Estill-Runner-up Jackson City-Champs Wolfe-Runner-up PCC-Champs Leslie-Runner-up JBS-Champs LCC-Runner-up
  18. I didn't notice if the knee went out on him as he was going up or if he came down on it awkwardly. Anyway, it looked very severe.
  19. They are 13-7 losing their only regional game to Jenkins. I still can't figure that one out. They revenged that loss by 12 points Thursday. They are looking pretty good even after 4 players (2 starters) quit in the last month. The parity in the 14th is unbelievable.
  20. This was the first time I have seen JBS play and I was very impressed. The Stepp kid and the Cox kid are two of the better players I have seen this year. The Crusaders had a huge loss before the game when their center went down during warm-ups with what looked like a season ending knee injury. Both teams played hard and it should be a great district tournament. Go Cougars!
  21. Just checked the scores at KHSAA and they have it backwards - showing Breathitt as the winner.
