I have spoken to several people at the game, and noboby saw anything. I think if an incident like that did take place, someone besides the poster above sure would have seen something. It is a shame that someone would get on a sight like this and use a persons name to slander them. This is a great sight for information, but in my opinion posts need to stick to the facts of the game.

What Johnson are you referring to at East Carter?

You have to wonder why the Lady Raiders did not get the ball to Burge more toward the end. Don't get me wrong she got plenty of touches, but it certainly seemed that West Carter had nothing for her. She played like a seasoned vet last night. The future looks very bright for yet another Burge basketball player at ECHS.

Look for East Carter to make alot of noise! Their inside game could be very productive this season. The guard play could really be the difference. Also alot of young talent in the freshman class. A few of those freshman saw some significant playing time last season! Good luck Lady Raiders!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think East Carter is going to be a talented young team. This years 8th grade team has completed 2 undefeated seasons, and a few of them saw some varsity minutes this past year. The future looks bright in Grayson.

The officiating was a joke!! I agree they would call little touch fouls out on the perimeter and kids down low could not get a break. I guess the old saying no blood no foul was being used today. I am so proud of how the Raiders never gave up. They showed tremendous heart, and they need to keep their heads high. Even though its hard to feel that way right now. To the senior Raiders thanks for the memories we are all proud of you!! Good luck in whatever you do!!!! Congratulations Tomcats! You showed great sportsmanship and that is very appreciated. And what can you say about the student section, it was great to see that kind of school spirit on display, several schools in the reigion could take a few notes!!!!

Congratulations to the East Carter Raiders!! What a great win, and a huge huge game from Van Burge. He pretty much put his team on his back, and refused to loose!!!!! Enjoy this win !!!!!!!

Well said IBleedMaroon! I certainly hope the shooters are able to knock down some shots. Remember East Carter has beat Elliott County once this year. If my memory serves it was on Elliott Counties home floor. Hopefully it will be a great game.

The 62nd district seeded the Tournament this year. The 1st time ever. Elliott County was the 1 seed, East Carter the 2 seed, Morgan County the 3 seed, and West Carter the 4 seed. It seems to be working out ok. With Elliott County and East Carter advancing to Friday nights championship game...

Tough news for both teams. Prayers certainly go out to both young men, for sure not the way you want to see any student athlete end a season or H.S. career for that matter. Congrats to Russell defending the 16th region title.

Great win for the Raiders! What a dandy 2nd half! Total team effort!

I do not think Rick mays is deserving of the COY. He does not do much coaching during games. Those boys basically just play however they want. I am not bashing them, they have obviously been successful, but to name someone COY he/she would have to show that their coaching abilities have somehow been beneficial to the season. I just do not see that in Coach Mays. I would have to say my vote would have to be for Buddy Biggs, it is hard to argue with the changes in Ashland's record from last year to now.

Does anyone have any idea why East Carter's 2 leading scorers spent the majority of the night on the bench? I can't imagine that the night before Burge and johnson combined for 42 points, and were given no significant playing time in this game. Just curios.

I was making a very general comment and in no way meant to imply every single Rose Hill fan. However, it does seem that several people like to get on here and post how they feel that Rose Hill gets a raw deal. As posted by GoRadio, the girls game has changed over the last several years, and that is in part thanks to players like Queen, and Terry. That is a definite compliment to them. I just think that if you are going to play a physical style of play, then you can not get upset, when the other teams adapts to that same physical style of play. If your player can beat and bang down low, you can only expect the same from the opposing team. That is what makes us better basketball players when it is all said and done. I think we should all agree that the officiating in the 16th region could improve, but I do not think it is terrible all of the time. Everyone has a bad day at work from time to time. I do think Rose Hill is a great team and they will be fine the reast of the season, and I wish them all of the best!

Does anyone find it a little funny that the winning teams supporters are the ones crying? I have yet to see one post from someone from East Carter on here complaining about the calls, and they were just as bad toward them. I find it hilarious how every Rose Hill fan seems to think that everyone is out to get them.

Complete game from the Raiders!! I think this may be the first time in school history for a season sweep of Boyd County. Way to go Raiders!!! On a side note I also think that Van Burge is leading the state in free throw percentage, even though he missed one tonight!!! Great job!

I think it is hard to put a list together and not mention Burge from East Carter. He is having a great senior season, and in large part is the reason EC has won the number of games they have won.

East Carter's record is not indicative of the talent level on the team. They have been in several games that were won or lost by 1 point. When they are playing well they are a very dangerous team. However when they have a bad night, it tends to be really bad. As for the talent on the team they have plenty. Burge and Johnson are very talented gaurds and have the ability to score in bunches. Not having Ryan Sagraves did hurt the inside game against Ashland, he seems to be the emotional leader, and the kids really respond to his energy. Would Sagraves being in the game have changed the outcaome, probably not, but it would have given them another option. Congrats to the Tomcats on a good win, and good luck the rest of the way. Good luck Raiders for the remainder of the season.

This will be close one. However West may have an advantage as I hear that Tawnee Tackett is suspended for 2 games. With that being said, who knows how this one may play out. We all know when these two teams get together it doesn't matter who is playing, the emotions are sky high. I will only predict a good hard fought close game. GO LADY RAIDERS!!!!!

But anyone who has been around basketball in the 16th region knows that this season is no different from any other season, for the Lions.
