Aiding a runner has been a rule at different levels for years. They actually started calling it a little this year in HS, probably to make sure the "tush push" didn't get popular at the lower levels.

I have done it both ways...I have had upset parents at the lack of playing time on the 1 team...I have seen kids get demoralized and quit when we did 2 teams and both teams lost. There is no easy answer to these situations and more than likely each year and each league can be different.

So let's say you have a 3/4th or 5/6th grade program. You have 32 kids. You can split them 16 and 16 and play in a league...everyone gets more PT but both teams lose every game. Or you can have 1 team...kids may not play as much, but they win every game. Which are you all picking?

I would probably put Mayfield ahead of Owensboro! Until recently one could argue Hopkinsville/Christian Co were better jobs. I would put Owensboro as 5th west of I 65 currently, historically top 10.

When I want to get mad at this group I think back and realize...We are playing with our 4th string point guard...Our best player the first 10 games of the season (Carr) is struggling to get up the court let a lone hasn't made a shot in a month. The only critism I have with UK was at the under 4 time out when we were up 5, our bench and everyone came flying out on the court and looked to be taunting Texas a little (refs stepped in)... The last 3:36 of the game looked like a group who thought the game was already over and forgot to tell the other team.

Owensboro barely gets in the top 5 public schools west of I 65. It's a good job don't get me wrong, but not near top 5 in the state.

I wish the fumble rule was for the whole field. Why should a fumble out of the endzone be given to the other team, when it's not done this way the whole field?

I could see Pearl winning National COY, but not conference COY.

The Rupp crowd was as good as I have seen from start to finish last night. Lot's of energy, when there was a little lull in play, the fans got on their feet instead of sitting on their hands. That makes a huge difference to a team of overachievers who are having to play above their heads right now!

In this day and age of NIL and transfer portal, comparing programs from year to year is out the window. Pope and Kelsey both inherited roster messes and they have both done a bang up job in their first yeas. I will take the head to head win and let Kelsey have COY. Little brother needs some feel good stories...it's been a decade since they have had something to be proud/relevant about.

You are correct about this. Figuring out who to trust and all the characters involved is one of the toughest parts being a new coach. Most of the time a few of former staff will be needed however.

I think in this day and age, going into a new situation most coaches need to retain a few coaches (depending on the size of the school and roster). It's harder finding quality assistant coaches willing to move than it is Head Coaching candidates. The money doesn't justify the means for coaches picking up and relocating.

Philly front 4 should have won the MVP. I love Jalen Hurts and I am glad to see him win the big one. I thought he was all class in College and I think he continues that persona in the NFL. I will admit I didn't see him being a Superbowl MVP QB while in college, but that is what hard work and dedication to your craft can get you!

I think on any given night there could be a lineup of 7 or 8 guys that get how together and carry the cats. I think when Pope has everyone at his disposal, he is good at "reading the game" and getting to a lineup in the second half of "hot" guys that are playing well together. Obviously Carr and Robinson can be put in that mix of guys who could be playing well...

This is not only a must win, it's a must win and must play well to get some confidence back.

When I was growing up U of L was independent and Con USA. Those weren't exactly juggernaut situations as opposed to the SEC (during that time).

I think he thought that was why Chandler was playing... UK needs to play zone when Perry is in the game because he can't guard a fence post.

With several former coaches in administration at OHS and a solid group of Owensboro guys on staff...are they nervous about going outside of the "family" in fears there might be a different direction?

This^^ I am glad Cal saw the writing on the wall and moved on and I am not mad at the UK players who went with him (That's their comfort zone and Cal's rep for putting guys in the Pro's speaks for itself). UK fans wanted him gone, then got mad when he took his players and recruits (I am not sure what they expected to happen with the current landscape of CB.) My analysis was called soft when I suggested doing a tribute to Cal and cheering him...obviously Rupp went the opposite way and boo'd a lot. That gave Arkansas a little fire...they hit some shots and got some confidence...and their athletes got the best of us. I still think if Rupp cheers and doesn't give Cal and Company that edge of being the villain, it would have been a different story. But we will never know! That game is over...I don't think its Catastrophic for Pope, but I do think it shortened the honeymoon... Does Pope have it in him to challenge players and get after them...or is he just a really really smart cheerleader? Time will tell!

I am not sure (and too lazy to look up) however I feel like Nolan Richardson’s time at Arkansas, they were UK’s biggest game…I consider Arkansas a rival mainly for those years. Then came the Donovan/ Fl years. Before Arkansas were the Dale Brown LSU years… Basically a lot of schools have been UK’s biggest game rivals for periods of time when they were good…the consensus has always been UK’s been the one folks have wanted!
