A beat down where the Eagles defensive line just totally dominated the Chiefs offensive line by sacking Mahomes 6 times and forcing him into 3 turnovers two interceptions and a fumble. the Chief's quest for a three-pete goes down in flames. Congrats to Jalen Hurts (the games MVP) and the Eagles!

Just remember that as bad of a night as the Chiefs are having, it’s not as bad as Drake’s.

Jalen Hurts, coming from being a less than stellar Alabama QB (got benched in the title game) to a Super Bowl winning QB is about as improbable as it gets. I would have set those odds at 1,000,000 to 1.

This was never In question. The Eagles dominated and I’m glad they won. Now the AFC needs to stop the Chiefs. Kansas City’s offensive line was highly pressured all night.

He was pretty dang good at Alabama, check his numbers. Was Heisman runner-up at OU. It's not like he was a trash college QB. Not sure how you get million to one odds! ?

People always say defense wins championships. My favorite saying is it all starts up front. Philadelphia controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The way their 4 defensive linemen dominated this game is incredible. I don't think they blitzed once till late in the game and were just 1 off the Super Bowl sacks record. I can't recall a game where the defensive front four dominated a game like that. 

How did we get blowout like this?

The NFL only allows a handful of teams to even make the playoffs.

The entire thing is reseeded after each round.

The best teams get byes and home games only.

I've read for years that those things would put a near end to  blowouts in the playoffs....hmmm.

Lucky breaks and referee calls finally went against the Chiefs tonight. I don’t believe that there is a conspiracy by the NFL to rig games or influence the officiating, but KC has had an inordinate amount of controversial calls go their way in key moments. It makes it seem like something is fishy even if it isn’t. Mahomes was clearly hit in the face on the strip-sack fumble that he lost but there was no roughing the passer call. Has that ever happened to him before? I was shocked. I’m glad there was no real controversy in this game and the better team clearly won. 

It sounds crazy, but that final quarter from Mahomes was a huge benefit to his legacy. In 10-20 years when the "G.O.A.T." discussion is still going on (it will never end), people will go look back at box scores. 257 yds with 3 TDs and 2 int. is a solid stat line, the box score doesn't show that 75% of that was when they were down 34-0.

Unfortunately that's true. Couldn't cross the 50 for over half the game. But the numbers will age well for him.

Philly front 4 should have won the MVP.  

I love Jalen Hurts and I am glad to see him win the big one.  I thought he was all class in College and I think he continues that persona in the NFL.  I will admit I didn't see him being a Superbowl MVP QB while in college, but that is what hard work and dedication to your craft can get you!

The Ringer did a deep dive on this particular subject last week. In short, there is no evidence to suggest the fix is in for KC. They have benefited in some high-profile moments for sure, but when you are the lone team continually competing in these high-profile moments, I believe it distorts reality.

The NFL literally changed an NFL rule because Tom Brady got injured in a game. And during their run (sans spygate and deflategate), the Pats were seen as a beneficiary of friendly calls. It comes with the territory.

At some point, we are going to have to settle down on the conspiracy stuff. The first PI call last night, when you slow it down and freeze-frame it, probably should have resulted in a no-call. But in the moment AJ Brown is pushing off on the dude's facemask. I can see where the ref may have missed that one, but the internet was exploding with black helicopter talk.

Since the start of the Mahomes era, the Chiefs have been called for eight more penalties than their opponents in the regular season, and 21 fewer if we include postseason games. They have been penalized for 954 more yards than their opponents in that span .... In a couple of those seasons, they’ve gotten less help from officials than just about any other team in the league. In 2018, the Chiefs led the league in total penalties, with 163, nearly a penalty per game ahead of the team in second place. And last season, Kansas City’s opponents were flagged for just 95 penalties in 17 games, the third-fewest in the league. 

In sum, the officials have slightly hurt Kansas City. The Chiefs lost win probability from enforced penalties this season. The Chiefs played 12 one-possession games this season, including the playoffs; in the final five minutes of those 12 games, the refs threw five flags against Kansas City’s [opponents].

Mahomes gets a high but not ridiculous number of roughing calls. Among active quarterbacks, Mahomes ranks below Josh Allen, Jared Goff, and Kirk Cousins in career roughing penalties, roughing penalties per game, and roughing penalties per 100 passing attempts. Mahomes is fourth in the sample size in roughing penalties per sack, but he’s wedged between Goff and Jimmy Garoppolo, hardly indicating he’s getting particularly special treatment.

I don't have to look at his college numbers when Alabama was vastly superior to anyone they played. They were dominating despite Hurts, this is not a secret. Heck, go look back at threads on here. There was a lot more, "Hurts needs to be a WR or RB talk" than "Hurts is destined for QB greatness" talk (because it doesn't exist). Dude was benched in a title game and played a hybrid role his last year in Tuscaloosa. Not a traditional resume builder for an NFL QB, let alone a Super Bowl MVP.

Obviously, he was tremendous at OU, but that's not what I'm talking about.
