  1. Who have they turned on? IMO they apply pressure to play the homegrown kids...I don't feel like they turned on Dontaie Allen.
  2. I agree to a point. You can't continually screw over HS kids 25 minutes from your campus either. If UK offered and pressured because Wisconsin came to their door steps...then they (UK) maybe should have lived with their decision. At least for a year.
  3. Frederick is probably making 6 figures in NIL money. He would be silly not to come back IMO. It might also spring board him into a future coaching role if that is something that interests him. I also think Oscar's best earning potential is at UK next year. But I am not sure where he and Cal's relationship is at this point.
  4. What do you think Livingston does? I don't see him being a 1st round NBA pick (2nd round for that matter). Does he transfer? It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
  5. Was this a move so Frankfort can hire Coach Foley back? I know that situation wasn't handled properly by former admin when he was let go the way he was. I hate this for Coach Atchley. He has done a good job coaching football everywhere he has been.
  6. Once a player enters the portal, most of the time they are not welcomed back to the school they were at...
  7. I agree with this as well. College recruiting is tough to get right for both colleges and families. There are a lot of folks who miss the boat on this.
  8. What about the players who are "encouraged" to enter the portal from their current staff? That happens as well! What if a player is subject to "pay back" any NIL money they have made from a school if they leave that school?
  9. The fact is, there is attrition at every level of football (sports). Some kids play little league but don't move on to middle school, or quit then. Some are solid middle school players but quit or stop playing because of the time commitments in HS. There are some pro's every year that decide to hang it up, who are getting paid a lot of money to play. I would rather a player give it a shot if given the opportunity at any level of college (if that's a goal) than to live with the regret of not trying. Yes lots of small schools use sports as enrollment drivers, but a lot of times those schools give competitive financial packages to student athletes that help some students afford a college education.
  10. Not really, HS coaches are using college offers (whether they are committable or not) to "promote" their programs in hopes of persuading future HS athletes to their programs now. It's all a big game, using kids and players as pawns.
  11. What's a better job St. Johns or Syracuse? I really don't know the answer, but on the hoof I would think Syracuse.
  12. I don't think Wheeler is back this year. I am not sure that he hasn't quit the team with his no show at Senior night. Cats couldn't hit a shot or free throw down the stretch to get over the hump. Rupp crowd was great, especially in the second half. I thought that the crowd and Oscar were going to will them to the win, but it didn't happen.
  13. Gate is divided by the schools competing in the tournament. From what I have heard, the home venue gets to keep concessions. I would think that is a 10k profit for the hosting team. With LC and PC alternating the girls and guys tournaments between themselves, that is a nice revenue stream they can count on each year.
  14. I agree...Corbin arena has hosted the youth and middle school State the last couple years...That would be a good place as well.
  15. Congrats Nate...a KY HS Football product!
  16. Good news and hopefully at the same time they are able to remedy the boys state championship issues they are having. I am not sure if the issues are title 9 related, but adding girls state should help with that.
  17. Cal normally subs Oscar out before the 8 timeout...I would like to see him use the under 12, under 8 and under 4 timeout in the first and 16,12,8 in the second half to get guys a few minutes of rest. This is providing no foul trouble. I am wondering if he is trying to keep rotation at a min, so when the 2 injured come back there isn't PT issues.
  18. I think this UK team plays better on the road away from the pressure of stagnant Rupp Arena. I don't feel good about this game.
  19. I think Oscar got to big for his britches. It is starting to show why he and Huggy didn't get a long. NIL is going to cause a lot of broken locker rooms IMO. With that said, UK has a roster with a lot of Mid Major talent and it shows night in and night out where at UK, you get everyone's best effort.
  20. That district is going to kill LCA RPI. If they don't beat some of the heavy weights, they will be on the road starting in round 3.
  21. Mitch didn't play as big a role in hiring Cal as he did in hiring Gillespie. Pratt and company were allowed to pursue Cal.
  22. UK squandered a chance this year to have a great offensive year. Stoops needs to hire an OC and them hire their offensive staff...that way hopefully everyone would be on the same page.
  23. It's November 15...College basketball shouldn't even be playing for 2 more weeks. UK is going to be very good...Izzo is a better bench Coach than Cal. Cal is a better recruiter. I think UK misses Rubik, or a basketball mind like that. I feel like his assistants are assistants for their recruiting. We need a basketball coach on staff.
  24. This is awful news to wake up to. Robbie was a Great Coach and a better man. He loved the game and he loved his players.
