Holmes and CCH are at the top followed by HC and then there is a Grand Canyon of a drop off IMO. Not that another NKY team cannot beat them on a given night ('04-'05 CCH loses to St. Henry, and Holmes loses to NCC). That being said, in the district, Holmes did have Duran, and CCH smoked them, granted Holmes was having difficulties by that time.

Rodenberg from CovCath is making a name for himself quickly. Not close to legendary Kentucky coach, but if he stays in Kentucky, he will be eventually.

Back-up to Tony Roch, walk on at UK. Pop was the jv kicker last year. It's kinda funny now that people got riled up about his 52 yarder. Now 52 is a common occurence.

It's been quite a while, and it may not last long. And will the rematch be in 2 weeks or 3? I seem to remember year being along the lines of Harrison Co, LexCath, then Highlands.

Ryle high school is in the final 4 of boy's soccer in I honestly don't know how many years. Maybe ever actually. They've had a lot of good teams, but have never really been able to make a big run. Congrats to these players from a CCH guy, you've earned it, it's been a long time coming.

I think this is Highlands first region title since 1988 and first ever 10th region title. This team was nowhere near as talented as teams they've had since '88, but they found a way to get it done. Good job Birds. Tough game against Ryle, but good season.

NKY soccer used to be one region I believe. But now it is two regions with 4 districts. Campbell County schools, and Covington schools in region 10, and region 9 with the Boone County and Erlanger schools. I think amounts of teams are the reason for this.

Shootouts are a coin toss. Both teams have the equal chance. People complain about shootouts, but it is part of the game. Teams spend a lot of time practicing PKs and it's a great skill of the game. It's tough to end a game like that, but conceivably playing 4 or 5 overtimes of 10-20 minutes apiece is borderline unsafe for the players. While it is tough to end a game like that, it's not like teams are thrown out there without having the chance to practice, players prepare for them.

A tailback with 9 TDs and a quarterback on the opposite team with 835 all-purpose yards and neither team is able to get a win before this game. Is competition in Arkansas that high?

This list looks to be just about dead on in both teams and players. CCH and Holmes combine for 6 of the top 10 players and it looks like 7 of the top 10 from the same district. Holmes with 4 of the top 6, just about as I would have predicted :scared: :scared: . Pretty good list overall. I think Ryan will have a standout year.

Turnovers can be somewhat misleading, although CCH did give up a ton to Bishop Watterson, but the week before, you could say they played argueably a top 20 defense in the nation in St. Xavier.

Most teams in NKY have freshman soccer, and I'm assumming many of the Lexington/Louisville schools do to feed to the varsity program. Many Cincinnati schools do as well, as the CCH schedule shows.

That should be a great game. MC somewhat came out of nowhere last year, and GRC is definitely solid this year. Good match up.

No UCLA recruiting? Do they have as good of women's volleyball as men's?

Notre Dame University basketball last year was 32 points from winning 10 more different games. Losses like that will kill team momentum.

Wow, you rarely see that sort of dominance at the high school level outside of De LaSalle in their 5 year run or so.

Region 10 has sent a team to the finals in each of the past 3 years, with 2 teams (Notre Dame and Highlands) winning in the last 2 years, and Holy Cross losing 1-0 in the previous. But don't forget that Region 10 had 3 out of the 5 top girls teams in the state just about a week ago with Notre Dame (1), Highlands (3), and NewCath (5), and don't forget about Brossart coming in at 23rd.. How often does NKY get that well represented in polls? Not that they mean that much.

Yes 2 seasons ago Highlands had problems with this. However, the penalty was simple that their head coach could not be on the sideline for the district games. Highlands lost first round to NCC when Highlands was very very good (top 10 I believe).

The freshmen actually capped off an undefeated season beating CCH's JV regional championship team 1-0 in a shootout (4-2). Congrats to the Freddies on an undefeated 18-0-1 season.
