Theoldguy
I predict a small crowd. Why? I realize that Oldham will be bringing no one to the game, as last year at their own place, there were more students driving into the school grounds after the game, to go to their dance, then their were students attending the game, but why would the CovCath crowd be small this weekend? Theoldguy
A. S.O. will not bring a crowd. 1. Agreed B. Its Saturday afternoon instead of Friday night. 1. Until CovCath gets lights, CovCath will always play on a Saturday afternoon, and my guess is that I won't be alive to see CovCath play under the lights at CovCath...... C. Coming off a bye week. 1. True but it is Homecoming week. D. Weather 1. True but it should be nicer than Friday night... Reasons by Theoldguy: E. CovCath should blowout S.O. 1. I would think that (E) has more to do with the small crowd than what your A, B, C or D do. F. I have even heard that some of the CovCath Crazies are already lining up for tickets, for the Ft. Thomas game...... 1. Can we say blowouts for both CovCath and the Team from Ft. Thomas for the next two weeks.........
h.s.sportsrbest
I think anyone expecting CovCath to "blowout" South Oldham may be over-stating things a bit. This is a good football team, and I'd expect the outcome to be much closer than most are anticipating (not just on here, but through conversations). While I hope it's a run away win for the Colonels, I don't think that'll be the case. Hope I'm wrong.

I, too, think this will be a good game.
CCH86
Cov Cath looks slow out of the by week and allot of injured guys coming back for first game. They wear them down late and win 24-

Irishky10
“Our running backs are our strengths and out offensive line is quicker than last year,” Jones said. “Our district should be very interesting again this year. We played with Covington Catholic for most of the game last year and lost to Highlands by one. I think there are no real upsets in this districts, and if we can stay healthy, we have a good chance of hosting a playoff game.” SO comes into Cov Cath 5-1. Averaging 35 points a game. Last year SO was distracted the week they played Cov Cath with just having had to forfeit their earlier wins because of a illegal player. I think those wins were reinstated by the KHSAA later. But no question had to be a very big distraction in preparing for Cov Cath last year. I recall last years SO team was very physical. I would guess Coach Jones again plans to come into Park Hills and try to again play a very physical game. With SO not having the big distraction this year, plus a very productive offense. RB - Seth Gordon has been putting huge numbers. 14 TD's in his last ten games. This will be a good game. Now not that I think Cov Cath yields 35. But the Cov Cath offense has been prone to turnovers the past few games and needs to put up more than 20 to come away with the win. I sure don’t see this being a blowout. colonel-fan
This game worries me if I'm CovCath. South Oldham is bringing the second best record in school history (5 - 1) into this game and will be playing with something to prove. It's district time and everything gets turned up a notch. The Dragons have played CovCath and Highlands close in the past and will be looking to make a statement in this game. CovCath had better be on top of their game or there could be some disappointed Colonel fans in Park Hills on Saturday.

I agree, it seems as though South Oldham is getting tougher than most people realize. Covington Catholic's offense has struggled to produce like their defense has this season. I know their runningback has been injured, which may be the cause. The only way South Oldham can win this game is by playing better defense than Cov. Cath. This should be a low scoring game, IMO, unless Cov. Cath. comes out with something more productive on offense than I have seen already this season. Turnovers can be somewhat misleading, although CCH did give up a ton to Bishop Watterson, but the week before, you could say they played argueably a top 20 defense in the nation in St. Xavier.
