  1. I to have to go with the Eagles but in a clsoe one. The Grant County kids will be pumped because of Homecoming that seems to help on occassions. The Eagles now know they can move the ball on the ground with Joe Forrester, which only opens up the passing game again for Deck. This game offensively should equal out both on the ground and in the air. Scott needs to get the ball to wideouts Hankinson and Spencer these 2 form a strong wideout combo, and with Bianchi in the slot position Scott's offense could really SOAR this game but I still think it will be close because of the Homecoming hype for Grant County.
  2. I think this game comes down to can Scott contain Miller the quarterback which will be a hard task because no one it seems can stop him from getting his yards every game. I do remember a couple years ago when Scott played Holmes on homecoming and Duran Jefferson was at quarterback and no one had stopped him all year and Scott totally shut him down and won the game. I know Scott has the talent to play better than they have shown this year. They will need to show it this game to have a chance against the speed of Holmes especially Miller and Palmer.
  3. Didn't do nothing against Dayton I guess because he didn't have over 100 yards that is nothing. Stats for Dayton game 4 catches 81 yards and 1 touchdown. Sure it wasn't the numbers he put up the first week but it was still a pretty good day I don't believe Dayton had a receiver put up anything close to those numbers in the game. Hank gets covered now by the best cornerback on the team they are playing each week and sometimes he gets doubled team, so somebody else needs to step up and catch some balls so they will not be able to double team him.
  4. I think Dayton played a good game against Holmes especially coming back at the end. Dayton has some speed at the corner and in the backfield. Joe Wynn is very fast and covers alot of ground. I do however think that Scott's defense is far better than Holmes, they have very hard hitting linebackers especially the Forrester Cousins. Scott gave up alot of points in their 1st game but don't be fooled by that. Scott's offense is loaded with talent and can move the ball and if they limit their turnovers they will put up some points against Dayton. I think this comes down to limiting turnovers for both teams and that will decide your winner. Scott has more weapons on offense than Dayton does. However Dayton does have 2 explosive players in Wynn and Brummet but not much after that. Scott has receivers that will catch about anything thrown their way if it is close especially Hankinson who had 8 catches for 146 yards and 2 td's in their 1st game. Spencer who is a speed deamon had 2 td's one on a run and the other one on a kick-off return. Deck who had a few interceptions in the first half looked very strong in the second half finished with 4 td's 3 passing and 1 running. Dayton fans should not think this is going to be an easy win because Scott is much better than they were last year.
  5. I put Scott's receiving core of Hankinson and Spencer up there as well. They have the same Quarterback throwing to them from last year in Tony Deck. I also put Dixie's EJ Detmer in the thick of things with Bricking throwing to him. It should be an exciting year in high school football. All I can say is ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL, LETS GET THE PARTY STARTED!!!!!!!
  6. Scott should definately be better offensively this year. Tony Deck will have his 2 main targets in the passing game with Hankinson and Spencer who formed a good receiving core last year working together. Joe Forrester returns from injury to anchor the backfield which will also give Deck another weapon that he lost last year early in the season. The big question mark will be replacing the offensive and defensive line players they lost from last years team. I believe they have the players to do that especially in Mullins, Yoest, Robbins, Hoskins, and Schwaller. I think the big key is can they get McKinney to step up and help out he has the size and strength just needs the experience at this level. Other notable Seniors to watch out for are Bianchi who is a versatile player that can play alot of positions on the field. Sivers who has added strength and size could be a factor once he gets a game or 2 under his belt at the Varsity level. Adkins on defense should have a break out year at the corner this will be his 2nd year at the corner for the Eagles. The sky is the limit for this team I think alot of goals can be reached this year if they can avoid the injury bug.
  7. I believe you are forgetting 1 of your players there Coach, how about Jordan Adkins from Scott High School.
  8. You never know what Scott team is going to show up they are Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hide. Ryan pitched good early but could not get no run support at all, Scott left runners in scoring position in 2 of the first 3 innings. Ryle is very good and could win the 9th Region this year. Scott however needs to get their act together and start learning to come back when down runs early. I could see it from the stands when Scott got down early players heads started looking down towards the ground. The players also need to quit worrying about personal statistics and remember this is a team sport and 1 or 2 players can't do it all. TEAM, TEAM, TEAM remember that when the Districts come around and I hope you guys go far.
  9. Good win for Eagles, As for Adams pitching time frame I don't believe it will happen for the rest of this year. Best offensive game of year for Adams but lets be realistic the fence where he hit his homerun was 300 feet not even a long homerun for softball anymore. Scott needs to show more emotion not just when there winning but also when they are down.
  10. I think Adkins will be in the rotation. Hiller and Smith will probably see some innings along with Matt Ross. Other than that I really don't know if there is anyone else that can help at the Varsity Level. I heard that Lingard is not coming back to play and also the LaBarge kid is not coming back. Who knows maybe Coach Roberts and his coaching staff might have a new kid to the program try out this year that is a good pitcher, or maybe they can make someone else into a pitcher we will see.
  11. Can agree with you on the outfield starters for Scott. However the rest except at 1st base with Adams could be up in the air. Catcher Steuart is a good defensive catcher but struggles at the plate. Someone told me he didn't even hit at the JV Level last year. I believe the Bianchi kid who is a Junior is better hitter but so so defensively. Maybe Steuart can catch and Bianchi can hit don't know if this is possibility or not Coach Roberts and his staff will have some decisions to make evrywhere else in the infield also. I believe a Major League coach once said positions are earned every year and not just a given in most situations.
  12. Zac Adams should be the number 1 pitcher for Scott this year. He has earned it in the off season with training. From what I have heard Bush did not even show up for weights in the off-season. I guess he thinks he don't need it, that really does not show Leadership at all for him being a senior who has been on the Varsity team for 3 years. We will see when try-outs begin who is in shape and who is not in shape. Scott will need under-classmen to step up in order to have a good season, which they do have some talent there to help out. BEST OF LUCK THIS YEAR EAGLES GO GET THEM!!!!!!
  13. You are absolutely right I forgot about him being a Junior this year. He is a solid receiver, I thought I was leaving someone out but just couldn't think of who.
  14. Getting back to what the thread is about. Dixie I believe this year has a chance to go all the way. Their Senior Class is loaded with talent if they play together as a TEAM! Bricking, Benson, Malony and Day will lead this team offensively and defensively. They seem to be vulnerable a little on the special teams side of the ball but they do have a good kicker in Jett. Receiving core will be so so, they will need to find a go to receiver that Bricking can rely on to catch the ball when needed. But like I said the sky is the limit for the Colonels as long as they play as a TEAM. They have the talent and coaching to go all the way if they can put it together. I look for them to pull off some wins over Highlands and Cov Cath this year.
  15. Guys I never said anything about any high school coach recruiting players. If you read my statement all I said is it is done. Remember there are other ways to help recruit players at younger ages. I have alot of respect for all the high school coaches in the area and I don't believe that anyone of them would do this. Make sure you always look closely into a statement before you assume something
  16. Sharp is a good player but he needs to play more intense on the defensive end of the court. Did not see him show defensive intensity at all in the Cov Cath game I understand fatique sets in for the amount of minutes he plays and it is hard to replace him on the floor but he might need a quick blow here and there which might help him show more defensive intensity throughout the game. By no means am I showing disrespect for the kid because like I said before he is a good player but needs to show high intensity on both ends of the court.
  17. I personally think for Scott to have a chance in this one especially on SK's home floor on Senior Night they need to figure out how to contain Hurd and Elbert and keep them off the boards and not allow them to have easy put backs. Hester will get his points in the game he always does. I just don't like the matchups between the 2 teams especially without Quigley in Scotts lineup. Some of Scott's role players will have to step up big in order for Scott to have a chance in this one. Believe me I would love to Scott win but I don't know if they have the fire power to pull it off. This could come down to who scores the most points off their bench.
  18. JV 6:00 P.M. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m. at Scott. Don't think weather will be a factor unless they decide to play it outside.
  19. Guys lets guit arguing over open enrollment, because right now Dixie does have an advantage over Scott and SK because of the new sports facility and no one can say they don't. I have been in meetings with the high ups in the county and expressed this before whether you want to believe it or not the facilities is an advantage over the other 2 schools in the county. I don't really care about that all I care about is my own , and if kids want to go to another school other than the one they are supposed to attend so be it.I believe Dixie deserved the new sports facilities. As far as recruiting it is done whether you believe it or not I will leave it at that. So lets drop all the wars about facilities and what kid should be going to what school and just take care of our own and hope we have a good 2007 season because I can't wait til it starts.
  20. I am not saying Conner does not have a chance to win, this day an age everyone has a chance to do that. If Conner gets in a run and gun game with Scott they probably have no chance. If Conner makes it more of a half court game than they will have a good chance to win this game. I have seen both schools play and this is what I believe has to happen Scott needs to play up-tempo and push the ball while Conner needs to slow it down and control the clock. This is just my opinion and opinions do vary with everyone, does anyone agree with my opinion ?
  21. Can someone please tell me which player or players might be going to the next level to play college ball ? I do think Sharp and Miller might have a chance to play at a Division ll college. As for some of the comments mentioned in the thread, I believe Sharp, Miller, and Smith are the go to players which they should be. I also believe that Felts, Norman, Hiller and Adkins help out alot as role players. Tyler Baker will be a big boost for Carr to have down the stretch and in the districts but we just have to see how he fits in and gels with the rest of the team.and I know Coach Carr will use everyone properly with how things are going in certain situations because he is a good coach who gets everything he can get out of all his kids.
  22. Want to go to game to cheer on Eagles but don't know where Harrison County is can someone give me directions please and tell me how long it takes to get there ?:thumb: The game itself I will take the Eagles by about 6 I to don't know much about Harrison County but I think with the early experience with the Eagles playing 2 quality teams already in Simon and Mason will pay off for them.
  23. I would love to see Scott win this one because I am an Eagle for life, but I think Simon Kenton has to much experience with their 5 starters and their bench is much deeper and experienced. However if Scott is hitting on all cylinders and the 3 pointer is falling it could be interesting. Scott has no answer for Simon's height this year in the middle unless Coach Carr can come up with some defensive scheme to help neutralize Simon's height, boards will be hard to come by for the Eagles. Quigley definately needs more help on the offensive end the next 2 games. Good luck Eagles I will be there cheering you guys on as always.
  24. It just seems to me that is a low number of Juniors this year and just can't figure out what happened to the Freshman class of 2 years ago. I know some kids weed out certain sports after their Freshman year to concentrate on sports they like more, but I can't believe this would be the case for most of them. I know all the kids from that Freshman team really like Coach Carr, so could there be another reason why there is such a low turn-out from that Freshman team of 2 years ago that don't play basketball anymore ? This is just an observation I wish the Eagles good luck on their up-coming season I know they have the talent and Head Varsity Coaching experience to go far. I am an EAGLE for life and always will support the big 3 sports for the school. :ylsuper:
  25. Can someone please tell me how come there are only 3 Juniors playing basketball this year on Scott's roster? I believe the Juniors playing are Adkins, Bianchi, and Lowry correct me if I am wrong. I know for a fact there are more Juniors at Scott who could have contributed to this team. When these Juniors were Freshman didn't they have a team ? I assume if they did they had at least 10 to 12 players so where are they at now. I know they didn't get cut they must have decided not to play for whatever reason.
