Conner @ Scott HS Predictions 2/8

Featured Replies

The Eagles will rebound from the loss to CovCath and beat the Cougars.

Sharp, Miller, and Smith will be back to form and have big games. It looks like Tyler Baker maybe able to play in this game. He will contribute with what Scott needs most right now and that is a another ball handler and scorer.

agree, Scott forces tempo, gets this game out of reach early

Scott- 70

Conner-56

I'll go against the grain and pick the upset here. Conner has a good big man ( I believe #21) that could give the Eagles some trouble.

I respect your opinion, but this game could get very ugly real quick. Conner has no one to stop Sharp, Miller, or Smith. Plus, you throw Baker in the mix and again this game might get ugly.

You're probably right.

Tiger1 are you Sharp or Miller's agent? It takes 5 guys to make a team. Baker has yet to dress from what I hear, and who really know how he will fit with the team. Besides, if Carr is any kind of coach, Baker should be down on this list to get in the game. Felts, Hiller, Adkins, and Norman all work hard and to start some kid that has yet to play all season, at the end of the season, would seriously hurt morale.

Granted Sharp and Miller are doing well this year, but if it wasn't for the other 3 players out there feeding them the ball and helping out defensivly, where would they be?

You really should give credit to the team, not just your few "select" picks. That's why basketball is a TEAM sport.

The Eagles are a good team with several good players.

Yes, I am Sharp, Miller & Smith's agent because I believe these three are the main players for Scott. You do need 5 players to make up a line-up, but there is always a few key players on a team and these three are it.

Regarding Baker, I will make this short and sweet. If Coach Carr wants to make a serious run in post-season, then he will play Baker just as much as the one's you mentioned because he is a very good player and can contribute right away with offense, defense, and help bringing the ball up the floor. It won't hurt morale if Baker gets a lot of time especially if the other player's really want a chance to win.

I must address some of these...

Baker has been part of this team all season long. He has been with them supporting them, practicing with them, and is good friends with many of them. He didn't just walk in off the street. He has been in limbo all season. If anything, I think most on the team are sympathetic to his situation...

Coach Carr is a very serious and fair man. He will start and play his best five players he has. He will do whatever it takes to put his players in a situation to win. If any of the other players mentioned were better, I have no doubt in my mind they would be starting...

I must say in defense of Tiger1's honor here. I am fairly close to the Scott program. I don't know who he is and it's great for the sake of anonimity that I don't know who he is. But, I always look forward to his posts on Scott basketball. I think he has always been fair and his information has been respectful and reliable. I think his posts have always been fair and balanced (go back and review them). When a player (besides the two you mentioned) has a good game he has always mentions them. Calling him out as these players 'agents' or 'select' picks is a bit silly...

I think the strength of Scott's team this year is that Coach Carr has them playing as a solid team. IMO (and I agree with you here) their tough defense is what has gotten them a solid winning record this year. It's hard in these summaries to give a break down or put numbers on their defensive efforts. I think it's most effective when it confuses and takes opponents out of their game plan. Unfortunately, for those who don't attend the games, all they see is brief offensive summaries and this usually gives credit to the 'star' players, like the two you mentioned. If you think some of these players don't get mentioned enough or get enough credit it is probably true to some extent. It is not because they don't contribute or aren't good players, its just that their play isn't statistically notable. I think all of us that who follow the program and watch them every game are fully aware of their efforts and how they help and support the team...

Not worth it. None of these boys, unfortunatly will go on to play at college level. There are 7 games left. I would like to see ALL THE SENIORS... Sharp, Felts, Smith, Holt, Norman, MIller, and anyone I missed to enjoy what is left and have fun and play hard.

Good Luck Eagles with the rest of the season. Have Fun!.

Sting and Tiger1.... you too.

I respect your post. One thing you are wrong about is there is a player or two that will be going on to play college basketball!! I will leave it at.

Excellent post!! :thumb: :thumb:

Can someone please tell me which player or players might be going to the next level to play college ball ? I do think Sharp and Miller might have a chance to play at a Division ll college. As for some of the comments mentioned in the thread, I believe Sharp, Miller, and Smith are the go to players which they should be. I also believe that Felts, Norman, Hiller and Adkins help out alot as role players. Tyler Baker will be a big boost for Carr to have down the stretch and in the districts but we just have to see how he fits in and gels with the rest of the team.and I know Coach Carr will use everyone properly with how things are going in certain situations because he is a good coach who gets everything he can get out of all his kids.

Back to topic...Conner is always well coached and tough to blow out.

Scott wins a close game 65-59!

Here's what I know, Conner has no doubt scouted Scott and has prepared for them. The Coaching staff at Conner is A+ at getting their team ready for competition and Conner will win this one by 5. My question for the Scott faithful is who is going to stop Adam Crews or Jace Jordan or Courtney Anderson? They have some athletes and will get back on defense. Just ask Cov Cath. who Conner always gives a game.

I am not saying Conner does not have a chance to win, this day an age everyone has a chance to do that. If Conner gets in a run and gun game with Scott they probably have no chance. If Conner makes it more of a half court game than they will have a good chance to win this game. I have seen both schools play and this is what I believe has to happen Scott needs to play up-tempo and push the ball while Conner needs to slow it down and control the clock. This is just my opinion and opinions do vary with everyone, does anyone agree with my opinion ?
