Grant County Vs Williamstown is always a battle.

Williamstown came out determined, they kept thier heads in the game, played well as a team and came out with the win. Officiating was sketchy on both sides. Congratualtions , Demons. Good Luck tomorrow!:thumb:

Williamstown is located just below Boone, Kenton and between Owen and Pendleton Counties. They will have about 40 in the Graduating Class. Not sure but around 300 total in the High school Classes.

Williamstown is a lot stronger this year than in the past.

Williamstown pulled it off... Final Score 86 to 65. Wes Philpot shot the lights out for a total of 34 points! Way to go Wes! Congratulations, to Patrick Spoonamore for receiving the NCKC player of the week! :dancingpa

Williamstown has a strong Senior group, that will give Bellevue more than they can handle. It should be an exciting game! GO DEMONS!!:devil:

It was on #6. #4 tried to get the pick , but the ball skipped off the ground. Thanks for the compiement on the officials. I personally know a couple of them and will pass that on. Best of Luck Hounds next week.

I guess everyone has their own opinion on how they see things that happen in the game. The first time #10 hit the floor was in the fiirst half when the ball was loose and #10 for W-V and #14 for W-Town went for the ball and ended up ontop of each other. This is when the 1st Technical was called on these 2 players from that point on #10 from W-V seemed to have an attitude. In the second half sarting about 1 minute or so before the melee he did go down 2 times first when he tripped in a scramble for a rebound the second was on a screen. Then on the last it was a screen in which he ran into #00 of W-Town. This caused him to go down at that point he raised to his knee an elbowed #00 in the groin. This is when the melee started. #23 for W-V and #14 for W-Town jumped in and grabbed their own team mates to try and break it up, but because they jumped in this gave them their T'S and ejections #10 W-V and #00 for W- Town for the wrestling match. and the ohter 3 for W- Town for leaving the bench. The officials did let the kids play a little hard , but I did not see it as out of hand. They did a good job and handled this very professionally. In the end all players (involved in the melee) and coaches talked to each involved before they left the gym and said their apologies.

Walton by 15 Grant Co. does not play as hard as Walton.

That was a great article. I wish all papers where as unbiased to both teams as this one was. This was a great game and very physical. Lots of good play from both teams. If the rest of lthe season is like this for both teams it will be a great one.:thumb:

If I remember correctly. Shelby got way behind to Scott County's run game, but came out in the second half and made the right adjustments to shut it down. They came back from around 16 or so down to win that game. Boones pass defense is average and will give up some long plays. Shelby should keep the underdog winning going in this game. I think there will be some suprises in this district this year. With the coaching changes and loss of some key players this could be a real interesting year.But by far Gallatin should be close to the top as they lost few and had really good talent coming up.

Come on down to Williamstown. You can fill the Head Coaches position. and fill our gym with your magic! God knows after last season, we can use all the magic we can get.

To answer the gym question. we have 4 elementary schools all of which have gyms, 1 middle school and 2 high school gyms. There are no churches with gyms in the county. The problem is getting coaches , parents and other to commit the time and effort to get programs off the ground and to keep them going , so that they will do some good in the future. These problems can not be solved overnight, but with some dedication, effort and time given, things could start to change. The one program that proves this point is the youth football program. Because of the time, effort and determination. the program is growing by leaps and bounds. Also the head football coach from the high school is very involved with it now, instead of talking a good game and then not producing or helping out as in the past. I hope alot of the people from GC read this post and it will set in and maybe get some of them thinking of the future. There is alot of good kids with talent going by the way side, because of these problems.

Like I said I do like the coach and have respect for him, but as the article says, these teams have been picked since the 5th or 6 th grade. Not just basketball , but all sports in GC. And until they get someone in that knows no one in the county and puts teams on the fields or courts that should be there and not be worried about upsetting some friends of the family they will just be so-so and every now and then a contender.

Until GC brings in a coach from outside the county, they will continue to struggle. I like Coach Kinmon and have respect for him, but he still puts players on the court because of who the family is. And unfortanitly it happens all the way down to the middle school and youth programs. They have now and have had alot of undeveloped talent that they have wasted.
