For the straight night the Wildcats used a torrid 2nd half run to break open a tight game. Gallatin led 35-34 late in the 3rd before scoring the next 16 points to put the game out of reach.

Scoring for the Cats were Trent Maddox with 17, Taylor Jones 14, Scott Brown 10, David Henson 9, Zac Jones 6, Aaron Jones 2, and Shane Williamson 2.

Gallatin is the first school to win 3 straight titles in the 8th. They will take a 16-4 record to Richmond where they take on 4th Region champ Metcalfe Co. Thursday at 8:00.

Congrats to GC, they are definitely playing good team basketball right now. Hopefully they can make run and bring a championship trophy back to the 8th Region.:thumb:

It was a great game by the Wildcats. Very inconsistent officiating tonight. This is not an excuse at all but I am sure most would agree that when you call a weak push off on a player, you have to call the deliberate fouls down low. I believe that Gallatin had 13 fouls the entire game and both teams were playing very agressive. Regardless, good luck to GC at Richmond. Represent the 8th well. The better team won tonight and it had nothing to do with the officiating. Good luck to the Wildcats in Richmond. Bring home the big trophy.

Gallatin County opened the game up 10-2, but Carroll County came back on a Will Yager three pointer and the game was tied at 12 after the first quarter. Gallatin missed many under the basket opportunities in the second quarter as Carroll kept up with the Wildcats. Gallatin went up 5 points at the half going into the locker room with a 30-25 lead.

 

Dwayne Bowen won the ClassX Free Throw Challenge by hitting 7-10.

 

Carroll kept Gallatin from getting the ball to fall under the basket. Many missed shots right under the hoop in the third quarter. Carroll switched to a zone with less than 3 minutes left in the quarter, but back to back baskets by Taylor Jones extended the Gallatin County lead to a game high 7 points and maintained that difference going into the 4th quarter. 41-34.

 

Gallatin County started the quarter on a 10 point run that lasted 4:31 into the final quarter. Gallatin went up 51-36 after Chris Hendrick broke the drought with two free throws, but even Andy Sisenstein’s two three pointers to end the game weren’t enough to prevent Gallatin County to make the return trip to Richmond. Tournament MVP Trent Maddox led all scorers with 17 points.

You have to give it up to Carroll County. They hung in until the end of the game. A very nice effort by the Panthers. With 2 in double digits, Hendrick & Yager, 15 & 13 respectively.

 

It was good to meet Jim Schue tonight as well. Almost a BGP convention!!
