What is the status of the search for a replacement game?

Summer ball has been quiet. Does anyone have updates on progress or setbacks happening during summer games and practices?

Granted, the schedules posted are likely old, but I found another one. Boyle County...7 games listed and open on October 3.

I didn't make an exhaustive search, but after some time on the KHSAA scoreboard, I found the following possibilities: Louisville Central...only 8 games listed and open on October 3. Johnson Central...only 9 games listed and open on October 10.

While I can empathize with reasons for the decision, it is difficult to rationalize dropping only one district game to build your program as opposed to the entire district. It would appear it is more a statement against a soon to be 5A school put in a 3A district. Harlan Co. should be good, but if Powell is willing and able to compete with Breathitt, Estill, etc., they should be able to take the field against Harlan Co. without ruining their season, program and athletes.

Are there any prospects for a replacement game?

Sincere congratulations...will hopefully get to see him play at Union.

I have been on the fence on this issue and am looking to be swayed. I must say again that Scribe's point of view seems to make the most sense.

I agree with the Scribe to an extent. It does not make sense to classify track and not the other smaller sports. I am a bit sentimental toward leaving basketball as is, though I am not sure I can make a rational argument to support it.

I have no idea of the news...but this thread needs to get going again. Any surprise standout from summer practice? My darkhorse is Miller from Cumberland (will be a sophomore).

In talking to Evarts coaches from last year, I am calling Glenn Roberts as my darkhorse to lead the Bears in tackles.

I saw that too, but I think the first two are actually the scrimmage and grid.

I was only addressing the quality of the basketball gym and the new coaches and whether or not a kid that had sports as a high priority at HC would want to leave that for HHS to sit a year and pay tuition. I did not intend a message on overall school choice or whether a kid like yours at HHS would want to go there.

I like the possibilities and optimism at Betsy Layne.
