RICHMOND — Chris Stunson wasn’t an All-State caliber performer when he played at Madison Central. But, he was definitely talented enough and dedicated enough to earn a chance to play basketball at the next level.

And he made the most of that opportunity.

Stunson went on to score more than 1,000 points during a very, very solid four-year career at Union College.

“Chris was just one of those kids that worked hard,” Central coach Allen Feldhaus said. “He had a great attitude. You always knew he was going to make something out of himself. If we can get Delewis Parks to find the same motivation that Chris had, he could do the same thing. But, that’s left to Delewis. He’s the one who’s got to prove he wants to do it.”

Just like Stunson, Parks will get that opportunity to prove himself.

The Central senior signed a national letter of intent on Friday to play at Union College. Parks, a 5-foot-9 left-handed guard, averaged eight points a game last year and led the team in assists as the Indians finished 17-13 and won another district championship.

The senior visited Union twice and received a tremendous amount of support and encouragement from Stunson.
