2008 Beach Ball Classic field of 16 teams has been announced. Tournament is 26-31 December in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Here is the lineup:

Arlington Country Day (FL)

Boys & Girls (NY)

Cedar Hill (TX)

Elliott County (KY)

J.L. Mann (SC)

Fayette Co. (GA)

Martin Luther King (Calif)

Mullins (SC)

Myrtle Beach (SC)

Peterson Catholic (NJ)

Pennsbury (Penn)

Socastee (SC)

Southside (SC)

St. Patrick (NJ)

Wheeler (GA)

For all those that said Elliott County didn't play anybody---here are some of the nation's somebody's. Should be a great early season test for the Lions and get them battle ready for March Madness and Rupp. It is basically double elimination, so each team will play at least two games and as many as 4 games. Win 4 straight and you are the Beach Ball Champs. Looks like a good chance to see some outstanding B-Ball and also some good entertainment and food!!!!

Noticed I only listed 15 teams. Left one team out. Oh well--In Bryantsville we hardly ever count past 10. Go to the link and they have the complete field for 2008. By the way, the Myrtle Beach Convention Center's 100,000 square foot hall is set up to seat 5,300 for this tournament.

Sheraton Convention Center which is part of the complex has 402 rooms and a couple of restuarants. Other attractions for those going is Ripley's Aquarium, Hard Rock Cafe, NASCAR Cafe and Speedway, Broadway on the Beach, IMAX Theatre, and Jimmy Buffet's Margarettville. Oh yea, and hundreds of golf courses for those that like chasing that little ball around!!!!

How many ticket packages w/ Elliott County sell?

Probably way to early to tell now. Should know more in the Sept/October time frame I would think. Scott County won their first game last year and then got beat by the 2007 champ Duncanville, TX. Then also lost the next game. Finished at 1 win and 2 losses on their trip last year. It is historically one of the top tournaments in the country and has big names show up like Roy Williams and Michael Jordan to name but a few. Elliott should come out of it a much better team regardless of wins and losses. It should also be a fun experience for the kids and some enjoyable things to do on their time off.
