I avoid the issue because this is supposed to be about 2008 Harlan, not teams/players that will or won't help Harlan in 2011, 12, 13. Also, as someone that was in the room when the decision was made 2 years ago, watching the debates in various threads is like watching an abortion debate...both sides have tinted goggles and are not going to suddenly say "ok, you're right". Likely none if someone else was hired by the site-base to coach, so long as it was another school employee, but are we cutting the tenured teacher's job based on where their child goes to school? That might be different.

Top of the 6th...a groundout to short (tough play), a walk, a force at second, and then a strikeout of the clean-up hitter. We win. She gets the win, I guess, not a save. She didn't cry, but I almost did.

She proceeds to mow down the bottom of their order 1-2-3 and then we score 5 in the bottom of the 5th to take a 14-10 lead. Girls are elated but I worry about the top of their order in the 6th. She had great placement but very little velocity.

So, we took a team vote after I laid out the 2 possibilities as honestly as possible to the girls before taking the field...my daughter proudly spoke up that we should keep the promise, we'll help her and take whatever result comes...the other girls followed unanimously...so off we go.

OK...great story...though off topic, but I'll brag on your girl. Down 10-9 after 4 innings to a team we haven't beaten this year, I was torn on keeping my promise to pitch a certain 9 year old for the first time. Starter was doing well and it was "keeping my promise with mom/sister/and granny watching" v. "putting her out there under too much pressure and having her cry after the loss" (yes, our team actually was aware of the competition last night and played the best we've played all year).

I'll start it off then...how about HHS being slightly favored v. Knott and Pineville and underdogs v. Lee and Hazard...that puts them 2-2 on paper after week 4. Someone take it from there.
