Owsley County has been through some coaches however looks are decieving. Bobrowski, left to become an administrator in another district. Hicks: left to take another coaching job at a larger school Parrett: Left to coach at a larger school that is closer to his home. These are reasons that people dont often consider when they talk about the coaching situation at Owsley County.

I couldnt agree more. Coach Noble is well liked and has great support from the administration and community at Owsley County. It will be a difficult decision for him to make. Wouldn't the KHSAA have to reinstate Denny Fugate before he can coach agian? (from a prior incident)

Doug Noble is a good guy and a class act. I could see how Breathitt County would want him. However Breathitt County passed on him a couple times in the past. It would be a loss for Owsley who gave him his first head coaching (high school job ) if he were to leave.

Agreed, Owsley and Lee gets two of the largest schools in the region. (both should be in bluegrass regions) and Wolfe County gets put in a district with Breathitt County and traditional powers Jackson City and Riverside.

Estill is the top team in the region, and Owsley has a young team. Good luck to Estill in the regional tourney. Congrats to Coach Davidson and his young Owls the future will be better.

Congrats to the Bobcats. A big win for Coach Jewell and his team. I had several people say that this year it was between Powell and Estill. I guess that they were only half right.

I agree that Steve Poppas is a great official and person, I was hoping that he would get this position. I guess the 14th will stay the same for the next few years.

Glad to see 14th region players going on to the next level.

Parents have single handidly ruined high school athletics. For some reasons most parents think that their kid is an all star and they are lucky to be able to be on a practice team. However they go out of their way to make the coach miserable. High school sports are to win, not to make sure everyone plays. Parents need to come to grips with the fact that the world does not revolve around their little darlings.

Good win for the Owls. Who will have a team of high school juniors next year. The future looks good for Coach Noble and the Owls.

Not taking nothing away from Coach Whitman, but I am pretty sure that Coach Napier has had a little bit to do with his 600+ wins and state championship.

Steve Poppas or Snake McIntosh would be great for the job. Both are good officials and would do the job right.

Mike Jones is a good coach.

IMO Mike Jones is the obvious choice.

Does Danny Fugate still coach Jackson City?

Anyone who knows Gene Combs, knew that it would be a matter of time before he built a powerhouse in Montgomery County. Give him a couple more years and he may have one.

This was a good game until the 6th. Jeremy Peirson did a great job pitching until he got tired. Owsley played the field well but had problems on the offensive end.

Estill County has a pitcher named Tia Brandenburg, she was their Ace year before last, but sat out last year because of a torn ACL. She is back healthy and is drawing interest from D-1 schools. Hazard lost their starting pitcher Britany Slone, last season she was name state all a player of the year. Powell County has a girl named Lacy, that is a good pitcher, she can throw in the upper 50's and has a nice change up. I also think that Jenkins has a real good pitcher, so the 14th is well represented, and ecspecially the 56th district with both Brandenburg and Lacy.

Miller hands down, State champs, Tourney MVP, and UK signee. His name is probably already engraved on the trophy.

The future looks well for basketball in the Mountains.

Hazard finishes a great season 31 wins, All A regional Championship, District Championship, and 14 region championship. Plus they return most of this team next season.

Hazard is a very dangerous team, and luck with the draw. I see them playing in the semis.
