I spoke with a Powell County supporter a few weeks ago and he said that Kyle had applied for a principal job. He also said that in their Board Policy administrators could not coach. This guy should know what he is talking about he is a big time supporter of Pirate Athletics.

That seems to be consensus among many people.

Good Luck to Coach Lively, his tenure as a coach was short but successful. A district title at Jackson City and regional runner up, and a district title and runner up finish at Powell County.

It seems to me that Coach Noble is still the talk of the Mountains. Pretty good for a guy who only won 5 or 6 games last season.

Congrats to Coach Davidson, he has a challenging job ahead of him, but he will have the support of the community and the school.

Breathitt County will be better this season, however they will still be a non factor in the 14th region. Hazard, Perry, Knott and LCC are too powerful this season.

She is one of the best athletes in the Mountains. She is a natural at basketball, I have seen her play several times and she has impressed me with her ability. Her stats tell the story, ecspecially those at the state tourney.

Also a team that won a holiday tournament in Florida, won 12 games, and was defeated by two points in overtime in the district tournament and a JV team that finished last season at 12-3. Not to mention had their coach quit at the half way point in the season. Owsley County returns a solid foundation of girls with 5 seniors that are ready to play and Junior Mika Turner who will be a top 10 player in the region. But the player that the 14th will notice this season and the next 4 seasons is Freshman Peyton Wright 5'10, left handed and one of the top athletes in the region. She started coming on last season and scored in double digits in 6 of Owsley's last 8 games and also recorded 5 double doubles in those games. Not bad for an 8th grader.

I am glad this is over, it has been going on to long and the only people that have suffered from this is the players from Owsley and Breathitt Counties. I am glad that people can now go on and the rumor mill will stop. I wish Doug the best of luck at Breathitt County. Coming from a friend I hope that he didnt just go to a coaching grave yard. He had support and Loyalty at Owsley, but the opportunity was to good for him to pass by. The Owsley County administration will do a good job in finding a new coach. The boys from the Owsley program will be working this summer and getting prepared for the upcoming season.

I was told from a source in Breathitt County that the hiring process will not be complete until Monday. So Owls and Bobcat fans will have to wait a few more days.

Not only is it close to opening day for school, but summer is a very important time for basketball. It is during the summer that you build strenghth, and teach fundamentals for the upcoming season, as well as work with your young kids. This has been hurtful for both Owsley County and Breathitt for this reason.

Charles of Lee County will be one of the top players in the 14th this season. However with the talent that is in the 14th this year he may go unrecognized.

Owsley County has several players that will be back from the last few seasons. Look for Junior power forward Timmy Murrell to be a strong force for the Owls, he has good moves around the basket and fights for every rebound. The biggest need for Owsley County is a guard. This season may be a difficult one for the Owls however with the support of the administration and the public the future looks bright for the Owls.

I agree, the time is now to resign or make a commitment to Owsley County. Also it is that time of year when teachers must sign their contracts, without his signature that may be taken as a go ahead and find a new coach.:sssh:

Dan played in the 80's under Coach Charlie Turner winning the district a few times and being regional runner up. He later was the Assistant Coach for Tim Bobrowski, winning a district championship and Regional All A. He definitely has a good pedigree.

Looks can be decieving. Ecspecially in politics.

Glad to see a mountain team, doing well. Congrats to Hazard, they should have another big year this season.

Whether or not Doug Noble leaves Owsley County or not, the Owsley County program and players will be taken care of. The administration at Owsley County has shown a level of support and care that is not found in many school districts. What ever decsion that Coach Noble makes, you can rest assured that the Owsley County Schools will make the appropriate moves to see that the players and the program are taken care of.

You are allowed to play summer ball with any team that you would like.

Finally the KHSAA is punishing a large name recognition school.

Hazard should be a definite favorite to win the 14th next season. they have alot of returning fire power in Whitaker and Campbell. However KCC will give them a run for their money.
