Favorites to win each Region next year..

Featured Replies

Instead of talking who are the top 5-10 teams in the state, who are some of the favorites to win region and make it to Rupp?

Yes I know it's really early but not every region has their own thread so what does everyone think?

List who you think will win each region. Not just the one you follow.

I respect your take on the teams across the state. Why don't you post yours ....to get us started.

1st- I like Calloway Co with the 6'5 Williams and 6'7 Solomon kid returning down low

2nd- Christian Co- Top to bottom the most talented team in the region. With Shaq Wilson, they should easily win it and make some noise at Rupp. Surprised more people haven't mentioned them as one of the top teams in the state.

3rd- I like Apollo

4th- Warren Central with Lightfoot and Shanklin

5th- Adair Co led by ballou and Fudge

6th- PRP

7th- J'Town led my Cosby

8th- Anderson Co led by CJ Penny

9th- Holmes- Pittman, Johnson Brothers, Riley, and Housley will be fun to watch together along side 6'6 Arnold (soph) and 6'6 Herndon (frosh)

10th- GRC led by future Cat Zollo and Stenzel

11th- Scott Co- Easily the most talented team in the state with Euton, Jackson, Phares, and Guyn.

12th- LIncoln Co very well could 3 peat with Keeton.

13th- South Laurel led by St John but wouldn't be surprised to see Corbin knock them off.

14th- Hazard led by Whitaker.

15th- Shelby Valley led by Elisha Justice and Ashley Hatfield. Another team who could potentially make some noise at Rupp.

16th- Elliot Co led by Ferguson and the Faulkner's.

5th- Adair Co led by ballou and Fudge

I really don't see them getting past Bardstown, who should be even better in 08/09. They just don't match up well with the Tigers.

I agree but JBS with the Stepp's, Cox, Collins, etc will give Whitaker, Campbell, etc. a run for their money.

I think they've all left unless something else has happened.

Your speaking of the JBS players correct? Can you elaborate?

JBS isnt having a basketball team next year. The school will not be open much longer.

The last I read was that JBS is having a team next year, according to Mike Fields' column. Several of the players have transferred though, including Cox.

He's gone to Knott Central...Where did the others go?

You know I really like Bardstown too as they return some solid juniors from last year but what will really hurt them is losing Hall and Edelen. They have nobody down low to match up with Ballou and Fudge is probably going to be one of top 2 or 3 PG's in the 5th.

Not sure about the others but Cox has indeed left. Without him I really don't see JBS being able to knock off Hazard.

They did a pretty good job of handling both those guys when Bardstown drilled them last year by 13 in a game that really wasn't that close. Adair's going to miss the Kimberland kid far more than Bardstown's going to miss their two seniors. Kimberland was really the only top-notch athlete on Adair's squad, and their best shooter. Ballou gets frustrated easily when pushed around (like B'town did to him), and takes way too many threes.

Hall's younger brother should be able to step in and take over some of Corey's scoring, and they have enough bodies coming back to help fill the hole left by Edelen. I look for Hickman to emerge as the clear best PG in the 5th, and one of the best in the state.

Well, Lincoln could 3-peat but it won't be with Keeton - he graduated! LOL:D

Corbin is the easy favorite in the 13th this season. Returns almost everyone. Clay then South Laurel.
