I wasn't there but I've been told that Drake suffered a hamstring issue during the race which caused him to hobble across the finish. The pictures that paNDA snapped at this event (there is a link in one of the track threads) seem to confirm Drake suffered some type of injury.

You may be right...Sheehan is a great kid and I look forward to watching him play the game at the next level. Of course, I also heard that Chuck Smith was at Highlands last Thursday when he found out Drake had committed to UC, so maybe there were a couple of reasons Joker showed up the next day. :idunno:

Pike was surrounded by just as much talent on the field, if not more, as Towles last season. As for your reference to the upcoming season, we can have that discussion once the Dixie 2011 and Highlands 2011 threads have been started. :thumb:

The Bruns boys lived in Campbell County when they started primary school...they were transfers into the Kenton County School system. As for the thread topic, I hope Coach Lickert is very successful at CCHS. Hopefully every school is already looking in the mirror trying to improve themselves without waiting to see what happens at CCHS.

You are correct that Scott is a Kenton Co. school, however according to the KHSAA website, SK and Scott did not play in 2007 and 2008. :idunno:

Understatement of the year

On September 13, Ohio County filed a request to be moved from 5A to 6A. I found this signed document by clicking up a couple of file trees in the above link. There is a 79 page PDF file with numerous schools responses from early September in this file. Ohio County's initial response is page 53 of this 79 page PDF file. IMO, Simon Kenton relied on this signed document from the Ohio County school administrators in their response. It sounds like Simon Kenton was backing Ohio County's initial request. Less than a week before Simon Kenton submitted their response, Ohio County filed a new response saying they were okay with being in 5A. However, it doesn't appear that this information was shared with Simon Kenton until after Simon Kenton's request was filed. Just food for thought.

Maybe the game plan was to keep Pike in the pocket? Someone already commented that he had some issues with the accuracy of his throws. Maybe HHS thought Pike is more dangereous when it is a broken play and he is scrambling.

Austin H did turn it on and had a good 2nd half. That was good to see. Don't overlook the game Devin Bruns had...including his sack/forced fumble early in the 3rd quarter. You better believe Abner will be fine...he is an outstanding corner and will be instrumental in leading the defense this year.

While I'm positive Highlands wanted to win this scrimmage (and what high school team playing last night didn't want to win their scrimmage?!?), the Highlands D coaches were substituting early and often. This was to see these guys in action in a game situation, not because there was "slicing and dicing" as you have termed it. And based on what I saw on film, the Trinity D was doing the same. I'll be surprised if either team gives up this many scores during a regular season game.
