CCH jumps out to a 14-0 lead, and the Bluebirds storm back to win the title

Congrats to Highlands for the title win! Also, congrats to CCH for an outstanding frosh year!

I didn't hear any of the 1st half, but heard the entire 2nd half.

 

CCH was up 14-0, with the Birds tying it up at half.

 

Don't let the score fool you. Although Highlands was the better team, CCH had the ball 4 times inside Highlands territory in the 2nd half with no points. CCH had their chances but could not execute when it mattered most. This frosh group for Highlands sounds like they have the execution part down which is synonomous every year with Bird football.

 

Congrats to the Birds. Didn't see the game tonight but a talented group. And for CCH, a play here or there and you could have been champs....start getting ready for next year.

Great game Baby Birds!!! I was impressed how they came back after being down 14 early. Seth Hope had one of the hardest hits I have seen all year on Jalen Hayes punt return td. He completely blew the CovCath kid up.. Wow!! Jalen Hayes hits so hard from his safety position he is seriously going to hurt himself or someone else really bad..It is crazy how fast he gets to the ball..

Here's a question: does the championship-winning team get something, like a trophy? If so, what organization gives it to them, the NKFCA?

That was a great block. Jaylen did a nice job waiting for it and exploding through it to the end zone. Hope had a great defensive game as well on a bad wheel ta'boot. Hayes was blowin' people up too. I was really surprised to see Dressman get back up after a 4th quarter hit by Hayes on the sidelines!! Tough kid (both of them).

HHS is forced to punt and the ball is snapped over the HHS punter head. The young man racers back to the ball and instead of trying to pick up the ball, he hits the ball with his hands pushing the ball back deeper and in fact into the end zone but by doing that he then has a chance to pick up the ball and get a punt off that CovCath didn't field well and it wound up being around a 40 plus yard punt. Outstanding and heads up play by the HHS punter....

 

BTW everybody in the press box and that includes the HHS guys thought for sure that HHS had used their three TO's with 3 seconds left in the first half! Like I said, even the HHS guys in the press box thought HHS got four TO's that first half!

The punter was Bobby Plau. Was a great play. Very athletic kid.

I am sure the officials were keeping track. It is not the press box's personnel responsibility to keep track of time outs. I do not believe HHS had "four TO's". Would not have changed the outcome of the game regardless.

Congrats to the baby Birds. This is just one of many feats coming their way in the future.

Congrats to the Baby Birds on a great season and on bringing home the championship. I'm looking forward to watching this group next year and beyond.

These 2 teams should have some fun battles to watch through 13'. I don't recall a Frosh season where 2 teams dominated their other opponents as bad as these two did.
