55 is Sam Burchell. We also have a couple players from Boone Co Peewee Luke Bir and Christian Stewart. My son played Bcpwfl up til 8th grade when switched to Colonel Middle School- #69. Although disappointed in outcome still proud of our young men. Congrats to HHS. So looking forward to this rivalry the next 3 years!!!

I thought the botched punt was an awesome play. Really impressed that a freshman player would have the presence to still try and get a punt off that would actually end up being a decent play. Saw the same exact thing happen earlier in the Notre Dame game. Worked out the same way.

Harris had a great game for the Birds. Almost an automatic 5-6 yards per carry. #54 Miller for CCHS was all over the field on defense all night!

Nothing wrong with and or being proud of a group of youngsters who achieve both on and off the field, no matter what grade they are in! :thumb:

 

It's fun watching these youngsters grow and mold together starting from the seventh grade instead of their freshmen year and CovCath is just starting to see the fruits of the labors of those seventh and eight grade coaches! Thanks and a tip of Theoldguy Hat to you coaches, as indeed the future is looking good!

Another key play was when CCH called timeout before HHS punted with around 2:00 left in the 1st half. Good aggressive call IMO to get more time to try to score. As it turned out, punt downed at 3 yd line and CCH can't run out clock and is forced to punt to Hayes. Key holding penalty on 3rd down negates big gain and 1st down. Also, ref winds clock after penalty (I guess that is the right call since the play before it was a clock running play?) and CCH doesn't take the full 25 seconds before snapping the 2d 3rd down attempt. I still think they have to punt it, but less time on the clock.

 

Also, #83 Evan Allen had another key block on the Hayes punt return. Pancaked the CCH gunner to the ground to give Hayes some room to move initially.

 

Congrats to the Baby Birds on a great season. Hope most of them continue to practice with the varsity and get a chance to view the playoff game(s) from the sideline.

We are proud of our Colonel Youth program which has shown success in a short existence. Sounds like sour grapes since all the Highlands youngsters only play themselves. I guess that's one area where you can't laud it over the competition.

Ma'am, I think you are headed down the wrong track if you are trying to compare Colonel Youth or any other youth football to the Ft. Thomas youth football league. That Ft. Thomas league should be emulated by everyone and is at the heart of Highlands success.

Agreed in fact come on out Momma on Monday night for the 8th grade All star game at Highlands. The teams are split up and they get to wear the Bird gear and battle. You will see some fine athletes who most will likely move onto the Freshman team next year. However, I know there are more and more kids from outside the area playing so you might even see a future Blue Colonel, who knows.

You're kidding right? Not only are the Highlands folks proud of it's stellar youth program, We take pride in our Varsity record. As oldguy puts it, "for those keeping track of such things." Sour grapes? right. 19 VARSITY state titles wanes in comparison to 2 straight NKY 8th grade championships.:lol:
