Congrats to HHS, coming back from being down 14-0 was a great team effort!

 

IMO, The play of the game:

 

HHS is forced to punt and the ball is snapped over the HHS punter head. The young man racers back to the ball and instead of trying to pick up the ball, he hits the ball with his hands pushing the ball back deeper and in fact into the end zone but by doing that he then has a chance to pick up the ball and get a punt off that CovCath didn't field well and it wound up being around a 40 plus yard punt. Outstanding and heads up play by the HHS punter....

 

BTW everybody in the press box and that includes the HHS guys thought for sure that HHS had used their three TO's with 3 seconds left in the first half! Like I said, even the HHS guys in the press box thought HHS got four TO's that first half!

 

I thought the botched punt was an awesome play. Really impressed that a freshman player would have the presence to still try and get a punt off that would actually end up being a decent play. Saw the same exact thing happen earlier in the Notre Dame game. Worked out the same way.

Dressman is the frosh qb. My guess is he's finished playing qb and will be moved to a skill position to take advantage of his size and athletic ability. Good looking athlete.

Also very curious who the standouts are for CCH and where they played their youth football. I know I have read some posts where they have Spartans, Red Devils and even Ludlow players.

The Colonel player (was it #29?) that was hurt didn't look good when he was being helped off the field. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

The player in question is #28 Nick Pope and I think he will be fine. The young man is indeed a player and it wouldn't surprise me one bit (if he is completely healthy and is cleared to play) will get to dress for the CovCath vs. Ashland 1st round varsity home game this Saturday.

BTW this seasons CovCath Middle School 8th grade team won the big school division championship and as seventh graders, came in second to NCC in the small school division.

 

For those keeping track of such things that is two years in a row that our 8th grade teams have won the big school division championships!

Who is #55 on CovCath's D? I was very impressed with his play. He does a nice job.

Great game by both squads! It was one of 3 exciting freshman football games I've seen played this year. As stated before, the HHS punt play by Plau (sp?) was a GREAT play! A little off on my predicition, but that would've been a boring game!

 

A couple of observations.....

 

CCH stormed out and hushed the HHS blue fans and ignited the CCH fan base. I think listening to the comments in the stands during the 1st half was about as good as watching the game.

 

Nick Pope and Dressman are players, no doubt! The Hayes, Harris and Wrobleski backfield is going to give teams fits. Most teams are lucky to have 1 good running back. Ft. Thomas sports 3 GREAT running backs!

55 is Sam Burchell. We also have a couple players from Boone Co Peewee Luke Bir and Christian Stewart. My son played Bcpwfl up til 8th grade when switched to Colonel Middle School- #69. Although disappointed in outcome still proud of our young men. Congrats to HHS. So looking forward to this rivalry the next 3 years!!!
