  1. I was there the whole night, and honestly you can't even understand what these kids are chanting. I'm also confident that both administrations would quickly put an end to anything that was inappropriate. Congratulations to the Lady Cru. Abby Bessler and Rachel Fortner are very special players that played with a lot of heart and passion. NDA has at least four D1 recruits on their team (Thelen, Ogle, Schuler, Angel) and if she's not D1 bound yet, Meredith Klare. Simply put, Maureen Kaiser is a phenomenal coach. Until NDA decides to get a good head coach on board at all levels, they will never compete for the state title.
  2. NDA is not sitting on a pile of money, nor do I think dennis12b indicated that they were. The NDA volleyball program fundraises all the money that they need to attend these tournaments. If they fall short, the parents pay for it. It's a sacrafice that parents are willing to make when sending their kids to private schools. The school does not even pay for the players and coaches travel or hotel rooms. The only tournament that the school funds is if they make it to the State Volleyball Tournament.
  3. CCH JV 11 NewCath. 1 CCH JV 8 Letcher Co. 0 Nick Davis threw a no-hitter vs LC
  4. Holy Cross senior players have their Baccalaureate Mass tonight.
  5. NCC is a #1 seed because they won the small school conference, CCH is a #1 seed because they won the big school conference. They were placed on the top of each side of the bracket and the other 14 teams were selected randomly
  6. CCH freshman handled Simon Kenton pretty handily early in the season and also, i believe Newport and Ludlow are not in this tournament consistantly. They join the tourney whenever they think their team can play with the big boys
  7. One final word in A.J.'s defense. A.J. played his junior and senior year with a torn rotator cuff. He had shoulder surgery in July after playing his last season of summer ball. He played with pain because he loved the game and he loved being a Colonel. He played for the love of the game and not for the negative comments that some of you crazy people would get on here and post. Those who know A.J., know what kind of player A.J. was when he was healthy and at his best. He's also a great kid and was a great role model for the younger players that played below him, just like Quast and Severson were to him. Those are the things that matter. Remember those things about a player and not the errors that they made on the field. BTW, A.J. has graduated so Oldguy you can stop bashing him. I would tell you to find someone new to pick on, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Best of luck to the 2007 Covington Catholic Colonels! Always a very talented group of boys, but more importantly young men who year after year show class, repect, and a true "Spirit That Will Not Die" for their school.
  8. CSHS81, it's just that when you ask questions like the above, it creates nothing but controversy. I'm sure there are girls that are on there that really shouldn't be, as well as girls that aren't on there that should be. The safest bet would be to just ask if anyone thinks a player may have been left off the list. That way the girls that did make it are not insulted.
  9. I wouldn't say it was a poor display of volleyball. Kudos to the NDA coach for playing all fifteen of his players in the match. I didn't see St. Henry do that. Is that really what you want to see? NDA keep their starting rotation in and pound it in SK's face? I don't think so. I think it's better to keep the game respectable. Coach Ha showed a lot of class going to the bench.
  10. Neither does Assumption. Looks like we're good to go. State finals should include two of these three teams. (Assumption/NDA/St. Henry)
  11. It looks like Holy Cross will be heading to the Regionals. How exciting for the Indians. The Indians have a winning record of 20-12 after a long spell of losing seasons. H.C.'s new coaches Becky Verst and Kay Blank have sparked this team to be a competitior in N.KY. Best of Luck!
  12. I agree with Beechwoodfan. Beechwood deserves to come out of the Districts and play in the Region. NDA should be playing Cov. Latin and Beechwood should be playing Ludlow. That way the best two teams out of the District would go to Regionals. Yes, you do have to eventually beat everyone to win the title, but would NDA want to play Assumption right off the bat? Absolutely not. Would you want to lose in the 1st round of the state tournament or lose in the finals? If you say anything but FINALS, you're crazy. What team would not want to go as far as they can in the Districts, Regionals or State? Especially a team that is deserving of it, and Beechwood deserves to go to Regionals. BTW cshs81, we're not talking baseball here...we're talking volleyball. It's a total different sport and a totally different situation.
  13. Big match Thursday night! St. Henry vs. Notre Dame......any predictions?
  14. I've been attending NDA senior nights for at least 15 years and the poems are part of the NDA tradition for senior night. Some of the players welling up with tears while reading the poems to their senior teammates shows how awesome a relationship these girls have with each other. Notre Dame is about tradition, just like those Colonels across the street. But, you should already know that.
  15. Observation from someone who does see a lot of volleyball: NDA's Senior Night was not that long. The girls deserve the recognition they got. There is no half-time like in basketball, football and soccer. The loyal fans that are there game in and game out enjoyed the night. If you don't like senior nights don't come to the NDA/St. Henry game on Thursday. It's St. Henry's senior night that night. Nicole has more than just a good vertical. She works hard to be the player that she is. She reads the court so well which helps to make her the exceptional player she is. It is unusual to have 12 players on the bench. Assumption and Sacred Heart like to carry up 6 JV players to sit on the Varsity bench. I personally think it's an intimidation issue. But, considering the level at which these two teams play, there are probably many times they use these players against weaker teams just to give them the varsity experience.
  16. Assumption is ranked 2nd. NDA gave them a good match and NDA still wasn't on top of their game. If NDA can keep playing tough competition the way Assumption does, I think they will give Assumption a run for their money on October 4. Starting September 23, NDA will be taking on tough teams like St. Henry, Sacred Heart, and Cincinnati Mercy. They will also be matching up with some good Ohio teams in next weekend's Fall Classic. Best of luck Pandas!
  17. I would have to agree with ZX3. Except I would put Boone above NCC.
  18. So, how did all the N.Ky. teams finish in the Louisville Invitational? Notre Dame finished 4th overall after losing in the semi-finals to Assumption 20-25, 20-25. I think NCC finished 1st in the Bronze (17th). St. Henry and Holy Cross were in Silver but I don't know how they finished.
  19. Here are the Friday pools for the tournament: Pool 1 Assumption, Harding Acad., Cov. Holy Cross Pool 2 Sacred Heart,Harpeth Hall Acad., Ryle Pool 3 St. Ursala Acad., Beechwood, Male Pool 4 St. Joseph Acad., Boone Co., Campbell Co. Pool 5 Notre Dame, So. Oldham, Henry Clay Pool 6 Mercy, Presentation, Newport Central Pool 7 Huntsville, Butler, Conner Pool 8 Lou Holy Cross, St. Henry, Tates Creek :dancingpa
