NKY District Draws - Vball

Featured Replies

What are the result of the district draws? I know that some districts seed (preferable unless your team is overmatched each year) and at least two districts draw.

All districts should seed. Drawing from a hat is ridiculous. :madman:

Beechwood drew NDA, which means the number 1 and 2 teams in the district will play and (likely) eliminate Beechwood, while a school with a lesser record will move on. Tough pill to swallow. Not fair to the girls who work so hard all season and develop a strong team only to have to rely on "luck" to get to regionals.

The best teams should move on, period.

Is this Groundhog Day?

Is this Groundhog Day?

"Do you ever have deja vu Mrs. Lancaster?"

"I don't think so, but I could check with the kitchen."

Every district in the state should be the same. Either all seed or none seed.

I know, forgive me. Same old story. It is just hard to see those girls get shafted two years in a row.

I understand. However, while it may be coachspeak, you have to beat the good teams if you plan on advancing to state. So, does it really matter when you play NDA?

Yeah, I think it does. It gives the girls the opportunity to play a little longer and experience the thrill of participating in regionals (which they have earned). Eventually, the best teams knock off the weaker ones. But then at least, you know you had your fair chance.

To play and extra week of volleyball and play in Regionals is priceless...sure it matters when they play NDA! That is a silly question.

Would you rather say you competed(in all senses of the word) in Regionals or lost and got sent packing in Districts... all while a far inferior team strolls to the Regional?????

Also, whichever 2 teams come out of the district, are directly put into opposite sides of the Regional bracket, obviously meaning they could not meet until the finals(if each make it that far), lengthening even more, their season.

So, it definitely matters.... but, no matter what, those are the rules as Ludlow and Covington Latin would like to keep it....

gotta abide by the(their) rules....

I am sorry to hear that Beechwood drew NDA again this year. They are certainly one of the top 8 teams in the region and deserve a chance to play in the regional. ZX3 is right, with the right regional draw, Beechwood could possibly play through to the regional finals.

What is the goal of the Beechwood Tigers?

Unless you agree to seed the entire region, then your argument holds no water IMO.

If "fair" is the unit of measure , then HC got cheated in b-ball last winter when they were arguably the 3rd best team in the region but could not make the region because the best 2 were also in their district.

I agree with Beechwoodfan. Beechwood deserves to come out of the Districts and play in the Region. NDA should be playing Cov. Latin and Beechwood should be playing Ludlow. That way the best two teams out of the District would go to Regionals. Yes, you do have to eventually beat everyone to win the title, but would NDA want to play Assumption right off the bat? Absolutely not. Would you want to lose in the 1st round of the state tournament or lose in the finals? If you say anything but FINALS, you're crazy. What team would not want to go as far as they can in the Districts, Regionals or State? Especially a team that is deserving of it, and Beechwood deserves to go to Regionals.

BTW cshs81, we're not talking baseball here...we're talking volleyball. It's a total different sport and a totally different situation.

How? If "fair" is what we're debating, why does the sport matter?

What is the goal of the Beechwood Tigers?

What is everyone's goal? STATE! A very lofty goal, but a goal nonetheless.

Also to beat NDA, Win the Cake Classic, Beat NCC,Beat St. Henry, Beat Ryle, Place high in the JCIT...you know the basics, beat the teams that are hard to beat, and win a tournament or two. They are all posted up in the hallway next to the concessions stand.

They did beat NCC, They did win the Cake Clasic, and came in 4rd last weekend at the JCIT!

For a team to have done those things, including handling Ludlow in the regular season, it is a very hard thing for the team to swallow.

I agree though, they are the rules.... just very hard to agree with them!

One question...why do we have a district, and a district tournament, if we do not have to play everyone in our district? We must play everyone in our conference, but the conference doesn't mean squat to KHSAA?

What is everyone's goal? STATE! ?

Good. I was nervous that the only goal was to make the region.
