Congrats to the Camels. SK made mistakes, particularly in the 2nd quarter, and CC turned them into points. A sign of a good team, which CC clearly is. I'm curious if CC's starting QB didn't play in the second half because of the score, or if there was another reason. Although the outcome was never really in doubt after SK's quick 2nd quarter turnover's let the Camels go up huge before half, SK was making a bit of a run in the second half when the Camels had a few turnovers, yet I didn't see Brown back in the game (I did leave after SK turned it over on downs with about 4 minutes left, so I don't know if he went back in for the late FG drive). By the way, the Camel kicker and kicking game looked pretty solid tonight as well. Unfortunately, SK's kicking game is still working out issues...quite a few XP attempts blocked tonight. As for Bishop...hopefully Bishop is going to be okay. They took him off on the stretcher, so prayers go out to him and his family.

Congrats, Dixie on the win. Thanks Nees and SM32 for your Dixie info. Sounds like they are getting it together and are definitely moving in the right direction. I'm looking forward to watching continued improvement each week. I've seen some things on here about possible issues inside Conner's program...don't know the validity and don't care. Keep your heads up boys, and ignore it. Keep working hard Cougars and keep giving it everything you've got.

Well said. Both teams have good skill position players. The quality of the line play is what will open up holes or provide protection to run the route. Unless SK played on turf in the Governor's Bowl, they haven't yet this year.

I agree with the need for SK's offensive improvement. I listened to the second half of the game last week and it seemed like Elbert was feeling pressure on just about every down. That was also what I saw in the Holy Cross game, and that is a pattern that needs to change for the offense to be more successful. I'm not sure it has reached a point where this is a must win for either team, but an SK loss would likely mean that they will have to win four of their last five games to have a good shot at the playoffs. Assuming no letdowns by either team, it will be a close game. On a separate note, I watched a middle school game at the new Dixie field on Saturday. I liked the facility and enjoyed the experience. I'm curious about one thing...at the end of the home stands there is a walkway that leads up a slight incline to what appears to be a patio area just to the right of the concession building. Does anyone know what this area will be used for? Is this the designated tailgating area for SM32?

Good to hear about Bustle. I saw in the paper this morning that the HC kid that was hurt suffered an ankle injury...best wishes to him as well. Elbert does throw a nice, fairly accurate deep ball. There were a couple of nice long passes to Gibson that were completed but just out of bounds. Completing those passes (in bounds would be even better) will help keep defenses from stacking the line to stop the run. Elbert did scramble a lot, many times because of pressure, but I agree there were a few times where he increased the pressure because he was scrambling.

^^ My bad...when I was talking about WR's, I meant Gibson instead of Bishop. Guess I still had the impressive runs by Bishop still on my mind as I was typing.

Overall solid effort by SK. I was impressed by the combo of Haught and Bishop in the backfield. As someone previously said, it seems like Haught moves the chains almost everytime he touches the ball. Bishop didn't have much success early, but SK kept grinding away and by the 4th qtr he was having some long gains. I noticed at WR, Bishop and Kleeman seemed to be getting the majority of the playing time. I missed the first few minutes of the 1st qtr, but during the remainder of the game I only recall 1 or 2 passes going toward Ponzer. A lot of balls were thrown Bishop's way. Of course, it seemed that most of the time, Elbert didn't have time in the pocket...he spent a lot of time scrambling. SK defense looked pretty good, also. There were more than a few passes that were in the defenders hands that were dropped. They seemed to be able to cover the secondary well, which is an improvement over what I remember from last year. As has been discussed previously, SK's kicking game had it's moments. The punter was fairly consistent, if you take away the one 1-yd punt. Kickoffs were adventures. Extra points in the second half looked better, although each one seemed only a 1/2 second away from being blocked. On a sad note, two players (one from each team) were taken from the field via ambulance. I wish each a quick recovery.

HC was able to do some running on SK in the 2nd qtr. Penny was getting outside the box and pulling off some long runs. SK did a better job of containing him and the running game in the second half.

SK has performed well in the non conference portion of their schedue. The Boone game at home to start district play is going to be huge (which probably a phrase that will be repeated every week during district play). Hopefully, SK can make it two in a row over Boone.

Based on the first two weeks of the season, CCH has the decided advantage in this game. As you point out, even though this will likely be a Dixie loss, an improved performance in this game could get them on the right track for district play. I'm hoping this is the case...Dixie has the makeup to be a good team based on the players that returned this year, they just need to start putting it together on the field.

It's good to hear that they are a better football team than in the past. I seem to recall that they made tremendous strides last year during the seaon and it sounds like that progress is continuing. If they keep working hard, the ball will bounce their way soon enough.

I believe DC is referring to RB Haught who is now at Simon Kenton.

Did the WR Gibson (I think that is his last name) get into the game tonight? If so, how did he, Ponzer, and Kleeman split playing time?

Sounds like it was an exciting game to have watched. I'm looking forward to hearing recaps and thoughts on the game from those that attended. I'm very surprised by T only having about 150 passing yards and with the three INTs.

I can verify that Bracken Co pulled their JR high program out of the Northern Kentucky Middle School Football League. They played their first (and only) game of this season in the league last Saturday and then pulled out. Not sure if they plan to cancel football for the year or just didn't want to play NKY middle schools anymore.

I just got the game back. Beechwood is up by 28 points with about a minute left in the third quarter.
