I guess MBA wasn't as down as some would have wanted you to believe prior to this game afterall. Thanks for the updates Birdsfan. Sounds like this game would be an ESPN instant classic if it had been televised.
I was sweatin'! :creepy:

Wow. What a turnaround from halftime. MBA had almost 300 yards in the 2nd half (outgaining Trinity 297 to 69 yards). Trinity had zero net rushing yards in the 2nd half. Petrino threw 3 picks (surprising) in the game.

I thought Trinity might struggle a bit since this was their first game and MBA had a chance to knock the rust off against Dunbar (although the Rocks controlled the first half, so this didn't appear to be a factor). I'd say the Rocks have some adjustments to make if they want to stay in the game with St X on Sept 22.

Sounds like it was an exciting game to have watched.

I'm looking forward to hearing recaps and thoughts on the game from those that attended. I'm very surprised by T only having about 150 passing yards and with the three INTs.

Great game, tough loss for T....They were in control most of the game, but MBA was a different team in the second half....Their 97-yard TD pass in the 3rd and (IMO) the Rocks not going for it on 4th and 1 in the 4th were the difference.

TD, RM, and Guru...Nice to see all of you again...PepRock, nice to meet you! :thumb:

What can you say. Poor offensive performance early, poor defensive performance late. Credit to MBA for hanging in there and fighting when it looked pretty grim for them tossing an int. on the Trinity 28 down 21-10. Trinity scores then, it would have been lights out (no pun intended). But MBA showed why they are a class program and hunkered down and came back to win.

Lots of work to do and a short week to get it done. Well, last year the Rocks opened with a loss to MBA and that worked out OK.:thumb:

How did MBA manage to amass 7 penalties for 136 yards? If all 7 penalties were 15 yarders, it would still only be 105 yards.

It's possible to have a holding call well behind the line of scrimmage...it's enforced from the spot of the infraction, so it can go down as a 20 or 22 yard penalty, depending on the spot of the foul. still not enough to make up the discrepancy you cite.

Nice to meet you too. Hope my directions weren't too bad. :thumb:

Good to see the TD "posse" and the Guru once again.

For the game, it was a hard fought struggle in which both teams showed quite a bit to me. MBA clearly is the more polished team right now but having a game already certainly helps that. Really I wouldn't want Trinity to start out playing any other team, MBA is solid and a very fundamentally sound team. They really help us see what we need to work on and improve on.

By the same token the Rocks' didn't look too shabby. A couple throws on Petrino's part that were just out of reach. We don't have Orndorf out there anymore, but those kids look like they have plenty of potential.

The defense was hard hitting all night! That was something I was proud to see. I cringed on a few of the hits they laid on the MBA players. Quite a bit to build upon though. I look forward to Manual next week! :thumb:

I know there were a number of spot fouls. I also think MBA had two grounding calls.

Shocked by this one. Anxious to see where 4EVER has the Rocks ranked nationally this week.

On a serious note, I think one great asset for Trinity this year is going to be the kicking game. 46.7 yards per punt is nothing to sneeze at. Also looks like the Trinity D was successful at getting into the backfield and stuffing the run pretty well.

The staff will have lots to look at and I'm sure they'll be ready to go later this year.
