MBA 23 Trinity 21

Featured Replies

For what it's worth, first, MBA has a very good team. More than anything else that was the reason for the loss. It was a good game to get the team and the coaches ready for the rest of the season. I was very pleased with Phillips at running back. I think that before the season is over, this will be the best Trinity defense in several years. The coaches will fix the holesin the pass defense. The QB and receivers are not on the same page yet. It was taking too long for Petrino to find his receivers. That will get better as the season progresses. Bring on the Crimsons.

Trinity's defense is on the small side and will have trouble stopping the run this year.

They are actually a little bigger than last year on the LOS. The LBs are basically the same two kids that started most games last year and the first sub is bigger than the LB the Rocks lost. The Ends are similar in size as the two that played very well in the playoff run. Maybe they just looked small compared to guys like MBA's #75 (6'5" 325#).

Some x fans think size is everything. Others think SPEED is more important. I think we'll be OK by the time it's all said and done.

As for the game, both teams played their guts out and showed class. Rocks lost, but what they'll gain will go far into the year. T coaches will fine tune both sides of the ball and we'll see a more polished team this friday night.

As for the size issue, I'll take speed and killer instinct over size anyday. But, it's alway nice to have all three.

Then I think this is a good thing for X. Taken from another thread:

Are you kidding me? They have Vic and Deuce and the most speed X has ever had.

Let's also not forget Simmons.

It's just my observation. It looked like the d-line was getting blown off the ball and MBA was running right up the middle. Then again maybe the MBA o-line is that good? Big and fast beats small and fast every time.

That guy was a hoss, and the rocks did look small in comparison IMO.

And your point? I have not said anything disparaging about x's brilliant size or speed. Just how is it possible they ever lose, especially in last year’s 4A title game?

If you want to start a thread about an off topic (x's world domination), go for it. Otherwise, bug out... and remember "Last Game".

Big and fast beats small and fast every time.

Then x should not have a problem ever. But then again, don't forget "Last Game". :sssh: :ylsuper:

No, most of the rushing yards came on draws. Early in the game when MBA was lining up and trying to blow the defense out with their size advantage, it didn't work.

MBA netted 95 yards on 35 attempts for a 2.7 average. I think we'll take that.

I think that stat is very deceiving, there were many sacks in that total, and a 35 yard loss after the ball was centered over the punters head, what mattered is that when it was crunch time they ran it right up the middle to win the game.

Sounds like a great game. I am sure both teams will advance far into their respective playoffs.

I was referring to MBA not X. Why turn every comment into an X vs. t ? Just my observation that's all and if you are honest you would agree with me.

Two draws for big yardage does not equate to being blown off the ball, IMO.
