Newport Catholic 66 North College Hill 64
One small step for KY and NKY basketball as North College Hill is #1 in the Cincy rankings for Division II thru IV and defending D III Ohio state champ. Actually NCC lost to NCH by 2 last year at NCH by missing a three at the buzzer.

$26 Ticket? CovCath - Louisville St. X: Cincinnati Scholastic Play by Play Classic
Actually unless you really, really want to sit on the floor pay the $13 which is bad enough, and then try and sit where you want....because I doubt that at 10:30 there will be many there. Again these kind of things are nice but pricey for students and really anyone.

NKY Bowl
I meant at each of their home fields. For example, I don't want to have a doubleheader of Beechwood/CovCath and Dayton/Bellevue played at Beechwood. Not good for the fans of Dayton and Bellevue. I don't want Beechwood/NCC playing on a doubleheader with Ryle/Boone Co. Same thing. Some very limited doubleheader games are okay as long as they are non-district. District games should never be played on a neutral field. I thought last year's Newport Bowl was an example of how it could work with minimal disruption. NCC (technically playing on their home field) against non-district SK and then Bellevue playing Newport on Newport's home field which is 300 yards from Bellevue's field.

NKY Bowl
Disagree. Games like Bellevue/Dayton and Ryle/Boone Co and Highlands/CovCath, and NCC/Beechwood should never be played anywhere other than at home fields.

Covington Scott Schedule
And they must play home and away with Simon Kenton and Dixie every year by "rule" of the Kenton Co. whatever board. Part of the "deal" with Scott and SK moving regions was that they could still play NKAC and local games.

Highlands 56 NCC 40
Would that apply to Class 1A thru 5A in football? Would that apply to Class A and AA in track?

2007 NKY Year in Review
Lots won't like these: 1. Highlands being undefeated and winning state championship. (Not always easy to live up to expectations.) 2. A) Holmes not making the playoffs. B)Dayton being bounced in first round after routing Bellevue in first round. C) Dixie losing to CovCath after beating them in the regular season. 3. Mueller going undefeated, Rash winning 1A, Schneider winning 13 games. 4. A) Dayton over Holmes B) NewCath OT win over Campbell Co. C) Beechwood comeback against Dixie D) CovCath over Beechwood 5. A) Highlands B) Boone Co. 6. A) Highlands B) NewCath 7. NewCath (Kickoff and punt coverage were super. Return of kicks and placekicking very good.) 8. Farris (Everyone keys on him and Boone Co offense is not very diverse or tricky.) 9. Highlands

Highlands 56 NCC 40
What could you possibly have against the All-A? Even if you don't like it, you should because it helps keep the state tournament as a one class tournament.
-
Highlands 56 NCC 40
They can, and schools much larger than NCC (such as St. Henry, Lloyd) have always played in the All-A. The smallest 125 schools can now play in the All-A.

Highlands 56 NCC 40
Quite possible. Not a great year for NKY inside. I would imagine CovCath and Holmes might possibly present some match-up problems for Highlands inside but then Highlands has the outside advantage. Highlands schedule is pretty bland this year so it may be tough to gauge how good they are. Just one stretch of decent teams when they get CovCath, Henry Clay, and Boone Co in a row in early January.

2008 Highlands schedule????
BTW, Elder's JV team that was undefeated and GCL champs only beat Colerain 7-0 last year. Their only other close game was a 24-18 win over St. X.

Highlands 56 NCC 40
Highlands led by 9 after first and 8 at the half. NCC cut it to 32-29 before Highlands stretched back out again. Highlands two guard punch too much on offense, and Breds did not rebound at all in the first half. NCC just not there yet underneath with footballers although they played decent for having no practice. Highlands perimeter defense just too good without an inside threat to free up the shooters for NCC. Down the road Highlands might have trouble if a team has a dominant inside game but then they still have to match-up with the Highlands guards at some point. NCC will be fine in the All-A and actually will end up 8 or 9 deep by the end of the season.

Boone County 75 NCC 57
Will all players be back this weekend (Highlands and Bellevue games) or at Senior retreat?

Football Question
Number of boys for football. Also there are more teams in 1A than say 2A because some of the teams in 1A elected to not compete in district play. I'm not a big fan of allowing teams to move up but when you go to 6 classes with basically 4 or 5 teams in every district you almost have to allow it. Otherwise, teams could have to travel over 100 miles to every district game. Go back to 4 classes or go to 4 classes and a super-class and teams would not have to move.

Manual Stadium lights
Mainly because you could also break up passes while you are watching since you are that close!! And maybe a newer goal post seeing as the refs are actually higher than the goal post after they climb up the mini-flood wall. Hope they keep the bathrooms though. Easy in, easy out, no frills.

Manual Stadium lights
I thought the lights were fine at Manual Stadium. The only thing really needed is about 10 more yards at each end of the field. And if I lived there maybe a net to catch PATs before they bounced off my porch.

How about more regular season neutral site games...
I would just caution that while it is enjoyable to see good teams match-up in good games, I would limit it because the games should be easily accessible by the schools students and fans. Two hour trips by students driving cars on unfamiliar roads is always a worry-thing.

Replays on scoreboard in PJS during Finals?
Some discussion over replays being shown or not shown on the scoreboard inside PJS during the State Finals? Please vote and post your thoughts.

There may have been a receiver or two open but the NCC safety was the deepest player on the field so it would not likely have been a TD. It's a terrible call because at that point of the game and at that position on the field it is just asking for trouble. You don't need to go for the jugular when you are up 7 and not being stopped and the clock is running in the fourth quarter. Plus your punting was shaky earlier. I don't want to overly be critical but that one play could have just thrown away the advantage Fort Campbell had worked hard to get.

Actually the one area NCC dominated in the game was special teams play. The coach of Fort Campbell put the punter in a bad situation with what was maybe the most bonehead play call in a long time. Leading 14-7 and ripping off long run after long run that NCC hadn't stopped all day and especially in the second half, why would you run a double reverse with a pitch back to the QB? It fooled no one and not only killed the drive, it made the punt come from deep in their own territory. Granted your punter should not shank it, but if he shanks it from mid-field thats a lot different than losing all that yardage in your own territory.

NCC Coach Schneider to Retire???
Trying to speculate on many random thoughts in this thread: 1. Coach Schneider does not do as much in game coaching as before because he has an O-cord. in his son and a D-cord. in Wagner. 2. His son is more of a Xs and Os design guy and behind the scenes guy who puts in long hours and not someone IMO who wants to be a head coach with all that entails. 3. D-Cord. Wagner is my guess to be the next coach. He has nearly all his public school pension time in and would be one to stick around awhile. 4. Don't know about the Highlands/NCC match-up ever. When Highlands dropped NCC for other non-district opportunites (such as Elder at PBS) it was the best decision for their program at the time. Remember it was late 90s and NCC had two losing seasons and Highlands was chasing mythical national championships. Playing Cincinnati teams was the only way to accomplish that. However, it is no secret that the decision did not sit well with Coach Schneider who did not want the series to end. 5. NCC will be good again next year with 23 Seniors next year including the QB and RB. The Junior class next year is on the low side with 10 and 9 are lineman. The Soph class next year is deep (22) and very talented especially at the skill positions and only lost 1 game by 1 point as Frosh. The JR high team had an extremely large number of players and they will be joined by some key Red Devils next year as Frosh. So whether he returns or not I have no idea, but whoever coaches should be okay for the next few years.

Football Question
I don't believe team can move at all next year as schedules were set for 2 years (07 and 08). In 09 the next realignment comes. That's when teams can ask to be moved but remember you have to ask, and in 07 you had to have a reason such as there are no teams in your classification near you. Some teams were denied in 07 because it would have overloaded a district or left a district with less than 4 teams.
-
Football Question
For this year teams could move up more than 1 class as Highlands was 3A enrollment-wise but moved to 5A in order to be in a district that had teams near it. The thought is that the rule for 09 might be that unless you move up to 6A, you have to stay in the class you are either currently in or in the class you really should be in.

Moeller Head Coaching Postion
The Moeller job may the most difficult in the area pressure-wise. Heck Crable had barely taken the job and the complaining had begun. It is unreal to expect Moeller to attain the levels of the 70s and 80s today but that doesn't stop the Moe faithful. Whomever takes the job faces a tough task.

Fort Campbell 21 Newport Central Catholic 7
We will all know more tomorrow or whenever it is broadcast again. I thought it bounced in real time but could not say for certain. I know the officials did not have a good look at it because they both looked at each other and did not make a call. But............my wife was at the concession stand and saw the replay and said the ball bounced into the receiver hands.........a photgrapher shooting pictures in that endzone called and said the ball bounced..............they started to show the replay in the stadium and it was yanked off the screen. Actually in the long run by calling it a TD then, it may have left enough time on the clock for NCC to score at the end of the half if you think about it.
