I'll go first:

1. Dayton's performance

2. Lloyd not doing better, and their coach having to retire due to medical issues (again)

3. tie: Dayton's coach and Highlands' coach

4. CovCath vs. Beechwood

5. Highlands

6. Highlands

7. Dixie

8. Farris of Boone County

9. Highlands

This is a good idea. I think we need a thread like this for each region. :thumb:

IMO, you just answered your own questions...

Deaton did a masterful job in leading the 'devils into the playoffs. The Cov Cath v. Beechwood game was a great game with a very strange ending. And for Cory Farris, what else can one say? A great mulit-sport athlete that deserves all the ink in the papers and hardware on the shelf... oh yes, Highlands for #'s 3,5,6 and 9!

1. Dayton or Holmes

2. Dixie might contend with Lloyd here. I still say Dixie had the best mix of athletes in N. Ky and the most talent.

3.Mueller, but Deaton and Lickert deserve mention

4. CovCath-Beechwood was a doozy that a lot of people got to see on TV.

5. Highlands

6. Highlands

7. I'm going with Highlands again, although Dixie's is a close second. While I think Dixie's punter may have been a tad bit better, at least in the head to head match, I recall Highlands kicker having a little more success. Our coverage on punts and kickoffs (the few that did not make the zone) was spectacular. We also did a very nice job returning kickoffs. Didn't have big yardage on returning punts (Dale this year was content to simply make sure we caught the ball and turned it over to the O) and we did a pretty good job blocking a few punts. And I'll but Highlands just a tad better than Dixie'sif for nothing else, in the state game our special teams were outstanding.

8. Farris but Cecil was very close in my opinion and deserved more credit than he got. Named the MVP of the state going simply doing in that game what he did in every game he played in. Still cannot understand him not being on the first or second N. Ky team.

9. Highlands again.

All in all, this year was a very good year to be a Highlands fan.

1. Biggest pleasant surprise in NKY this year- Dayton coming off losing Lickert and responding.

2. Biggest disappointment in NKY this year- Campbell Co- I thought they would make more noise in 6A.

3. Best overall coaching job in NKY this year- Dale Mueller- he was undefeated and a State Champion.

4. Best game between two NKY teams this year- CCH/Beechwood- didnt see it but read about it.

5. Best offense in NKY this year- Highlands

6. Best defense in NKY this year- Highlands

7. Best special teams in NKY this year- Highlands Highlands didnt have to punt much so hard to measure that aspect. Bathiany's Kickoffs win this honor and Securing punt returns also.

8. Best player in NKY this year- Clay Cecil close 2nd Corey Farris

9. Best team in NKY this year- Highlands

9) Highlands

1. Biggest pleasant surprise in NKY this year- Rob Kues, NCC, stepping up and leading them to the state finals!

2. Biggest disappointment in NKY this year- Dixie Hts, they were supposed to be "all that..."

3. Best overall coaching job in NKY this year- Dale Mueller & STAFF- they were undefeated and State Champions.

4. Best game between two NKY teams this year- CCH/Beechwood- close battle with controversial ending.

5. Best offense in NKY this year- Highlands...O-Line, So Fine!!!

6. Best defense in NKY this year- Highlands..so many play-ahs, so few all star slots!

7. Best special teams in NKY this year- Highlands...Highlands didn't have to punt much so hard to measure that aspect. Bathiany's Kickoffs/FG's win this honor. He would have been even better if Dale went "traditional" on XP's. Punt returns were vastly improved and I look forward to them being even better next year. Coverages were excellent and gave great insight to who HHS has waiting in the wings!

8. Best player in NKY this year- Corey Farris, close 2nd Clay Cecil. BC without Farris would be nothing. HHS w/o Cecil STILL would have won state, it just wouldn't have been the juggernaut that they were.

9. Best team in NKY this year- Highlands...and next!

1. Biggest pleasant surprise in NKY this year - Scott over Holmes (not for me but at least for the people in Taylor Mill)

2. Biggest disappointment in NKY this year -None they all strapped it on and gave their best, after all they are High school kids.

3. Best overall coaching job in NKY this year - Lloyd staff pulling it together and not letting anyone fold the tents.

4. Best game between two NKY teams this year - Boone/Dixie (I like Offense)

5. Best offense in NKY this year - Highlands

6. Best defense in NKY this year - NCC (at least Statistacly)

7. Best special teams in NKY this year - 1 Highlands 1b Dixie

8. Best player in NKY this year - Corey Farris

9. Best team in NKY this year - Highlands

Lots won't like these:

1. Highlands being undefeated and winning state championship. (Not always easy to live up to expectations.)

2. A) Holmes not making the playoffs. B)Dayton being bounced in first round after routing Bellevue in first round. C) Dixie losing to CovCath after beating them in the regular season.

3. Mueller going undefeated, Rash winning 1A, Schneider winning 13 games.

4. A) Dayton over Holmes B) NewCath OT win over Campbell Co. C) Beechwood comeback against Dixie D) CovCath over Beechwood

5. A) Highlands B) Boone Co.

6. A) Highlands B) NewCath

7. NewCath (Kickoff and punt coverage were super. Return of kicks and placekicking very good.)

8. Farris (Everyone keys on him and Boone Co offense is not very diverse or tricky.)

9. Highlands
