All Play No Work

Actually I believe NCC has more receivers with 10 or more catches than any team in NKY. And no one receiver has that many more catches than the others so not sure where you are coming from. If anything it seems it would be harder to get in a flowing offense between QB and receivers with so many different players catching the ball. I think that has been a little part of the offensive sputters along with the running game not be emphasized.

Probably have to go back a few years to find the last time St. Henry, Conner, NewCath, and Brossart all were missing from the Top 10 in preseason.

Not likely. The Gruensl. and Geisler from St. Thomas will be the big men.

Boone County won't be middle of the pack but they aren't the clear cut favorite anymore either. They still have two very good players and that is enough to make them a top contender in the region. Any of the top NKY teams can probably beat one another this year. I do think this is going to be a slightly below average year for NKY on the state-wide level. No stand out team and Boone, Highlands, NCC, Notre Dame and Holmes all have negatives that the top state teams can exploit.

This is a winnable game for Conner. Keep the ball on the ground and don't turn it over and Conner should get that W. If you want some kind of score that relates to NKY: Woodward is 4-4 and beat Belmont 20-16. Woodward beat Western Hills (who is 1-7) 40-7. Cov. Holy Cross who is 3-4 beat Western Hills 33-20.

Newport will have trouble scoring in this one, and Holy Cross should put up enough points to win comfortably.

If I read/heard correctly would the NKY district winner host the Trinity district in round 3?

Bellevue could not run it very well last week on Lloyd (well except for the defense who ran it well returning fumbles) and actually had some passing yardage but INTs are well. If they can't run it on Beechwood, it will be a repeat of the NCC game because Bellevue cannot put themselves in obvious passing situations. That will lead to turnovers and getting behind early and often.

While most game playing surfaces are still in good shape, practice fields are dreadful and the dust and hardness sure can't help.

Why? Do you feel that Holmes win over Dixie and Scott's win over Holmes do not translate to this game in any way?

I don't know how senior-laden Eminence is this year but even if they are not it will remain a key game for Brossart. Walton-Verona will obviously be a winnable game too.

You are correct in that at least this week games have more importance than most weeks. Sadly, it makes me long for the days of 6, 7, or 8 team districts when only 4 made it and teams had to battle their way in. And home field meant a team traveling from another district to come to your home field. Or your team having to hit the road and try and knock off a district champ. On a related fun note when NewCath ends up the #1 district seed and Newport the #4 district seed do you really think NewCath will be the home team on the scoreboard at Newport Stadium?:creepy:

Boone County has cranked up the offense in the last two weeks for 40 plus points since only getting 3 on Owensboro. Ryle straightened things out since the loss to Simon Kenton and zonked Fern Creek last week. One thing for sure is these teams might respect each other but they certainly don't like each other. This one is sure to draw a SRO crowd and for some reason home field advantage for the playoffs in NKY seems to matter the most for 6A. So who ya got?

This one should be a whole lot of fun. Dixie maybe a little short of most pre-season expectations district-wise and Scott maybe a little above most pre-season expectations district-wise. Neither has been a model of consistency. So who wins?

The playoff implications make me dizzy but who wins in the battle of Covington (even though one school isn't in the city). Will the injuries be too much for CovCath to overcome? Which Holmes team shows up to this one? Good dog or bad dog? Thoughts?

Mustangs should focus on this game next year (assuming they play again next year) as a game they can win.

Defense has been consistant, kicking/return game solid, but the offense still is developing. At some point you have to be able to just dominate the LOS and that has been lacking at times. I look for these last two games against good quality opposition to be an opportunity to see who can get you there and where the fine tuning for the playoffs start.

Bellevue is not exactly peaking. Passing offense will not be able to get it done verus the Beechie defense. Bellevue needs to be able to run the ball, control the clock, and play field position. Even then it is doubtful they can win. 14 of the 26 against Lloyd came from the defense and that isn't likely to happen again versus Beechwood. Plus Lloyd still rung up 36 despite some of the drives ending in points for Bellevue. Still a good growing week for the yellow and black Tigers. Learn from this one and then beat the Devils and you get another shot.

Kind of surprised at the margin. Newport didn't play all that bad in the loss to NewCath and Scott got blasted by Highlands and lost to Grant Co the week before that. Maybe Scott / Dixie shapes up as a good one.

A good victory for Paris.

Conner chips away and makes first downs but just isn't that explosive. Can't really explain why but I think they have a shot at winning a couple to close out the season.

Was tonight the first time they have led all season?

Conner scored first after NCC fumbled on the second play. NCC looked dreadful the first 4 minutes of the game. Then QB Kues scored on a 44 yard run and Conner make a mistake in the kicking game, and NCC returned the fumble for an 11 yard TD. From then on all Breds although Conner did move the ball at times. They lack a deep passing game though and the defense gives up too much in the secondary.

LLoyd has a ton of offense from Cedric "the Entertainer" Walker. Problem was Lloyd would fumble it away at times and Bellevue returned two fumbles for TDs. Lloyd led throughout 12-0, 12-8, 20-8, 20-14, 28-14, 28-20, 36-20, and finally 36-26. Bellevue had their own share of turnovers too. Neither team has any kind of kicking game.

Actually I think he could be even better if Boone Co. used him better. Rarely do they run him outside. And why keep him into block out of the shotgun formation when passing? There are plenty of backs that could block and Farris has played receiver before. Just think how effective it would be if you had to cover him and the Duce out wide.
