Newport didn't play all that bad in the loss to NewCath and Scott got blasted by Highlands and lost to Grant Co the week before that.

 

Maybe Scott / Dixie shapes up as a good one.

Yes Scott came out fired up for this game and the defense played great and the offense did a good job. They had a few other chances to score and just dropped the passes but overall a great game for the Eagles.

Good to see the Eagles get a breather for once. Congrats on a fine performance by Scott--Does this make next week's Dixie game more interesting??

Yes this was a good win for Scott and Newport's defense was not playing the way they usually do. Now I hate to stray from the game but as we all know it takes a few to damage one's sportsmanship. First it was not at all enjoyable to sit on the visitors side and have a group of men from the other team acting like a group of middle schoolers that had no concept of how to conduct themselves at a high school event. Second of all I was leaving and talking to old friends and noticed that a group of Scott students were tauting the Newport players as they were going to their buses. Once again, good win for Scott -- but a few members of your student body and a group of men made my impression of your school as a school that just can't handle winning.

One of the schools tonight had multiple personal fouls called against them for unsportsmanlike conduct. One of the schools had a player ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct late in the game. It kind of made the impression to me that one of the schools couldn't handle losing...

DUH -- of course you have that happen quite often. But you usually don't a group of kids running and jumping in the other teams face. The really shows the lack of character. The Newport players showed that they have character by not placing themselves in the same class as the Scott kids that were acting like jerks. Perhaps if this group of kids had any talent they would have been on the field. So basically the class act for Scott was on the field. :irked:

They called that being frustrated from giving it your all. The point is this -- Scott played a good game. They executed their game plan perfect. Newport played hard but was unable to execute their game plan. Hopefully for Scott this win will help Scott with the rest of their season. When did this happen also i was sitting in the middle of both the Scott and Newport section and didn't hear any bickering going on, maybe i missed something, but with the few people that were there, i doubt i did.

But on the subject of the game, this is the best eagle performance i have seen since Russel Poland was running the football. They dominated every facet of the game. Congrats eagles, stun the world next week, and make it possible to make a district final.
