This Friday night (Oct. 19) will be a big one for teams across the state. This will be especially true in Northern KY. In one night of football, the 4-way tie in the local 5A district will be broken, and all the teams seeded. Cov Cath will battle Holmes, and Dixie will take on Scott. Any of the four could end up in any position for the playoffs...or out of them entirely.

The local 6A picture will become clearer as well. Boone County (3-0) will face Ryle (2-1), and Simon Kenton (2-1) will take on Campbell County (1-2). Although the playoff teams have been decided, all of the seeds are still up for grabs.

Should make for an incredibly exciting night in NKY, as well as across the state! What are the big battles, with big consequences, in your area?

Well, not exactly... the NUMBER ONE position in Class 5A, District 5 is all wrapped up... BY HIGHLANDS!!!!!

You are correct in that at least this week games have more importance than most weeks.

Sadly, it makes me long for the days of 6, 7, or 8 team districts when only 4 made it and teams had to battle their way in. And home field meant a team traveling from another district to come to your home field. Or your team having to hit the road and try and knock off a district champ.

On a related fun note when NewCath ends up the #1 district seed and Newport the #4 district seed do you really think NewCath will be the home team on the scoreboard at Newport Stadium?:creepy:

I meant any position 2-5. I figured the top position was assumed.

They should make the #4 seed get on their buses and take one trip around I-275 the night of the game.

Mayfield vs a undefeated Fulton City team.

Ryle Vs Boone.. Huge Rivalry.. Plus a huge district game.. U town will be the place to be friday night.

Class 2A

Trigg at Caldwell. One of the most under-rated rivalries in the western end of the state.

It's not necessarily a nasty rivalry. I don't think Trigg and Caldwell hate one another. They just hate LOSING to one another.
