How good is Cory Farris of Boone County?

Featured Replies

I watched the Dixie/Boone game last night on FSN, and came away impressed with #4.

Why is he not getting as many looks from the local mid/major D-1 programs?

I know he is an accomplished baseball player, but I find it interesting he has not gotten more recognition from D-1 schools.

Is it the system he runs in?

Size?

Speed?

Oversight?

I think the word has been out for some time about his interest in a baseball career. From what my son tells me he is a real stud in baseball. Best of luck to this young man, I also understand he is quite a fine young gentlemen, and he runs the ball very well also

Because he'll have a GREAT college baseball career and possibly pro, AND be able to walk when he's 45...

very important and well said stickymitts. Seen Earl Campbell lately, that is terrible and I sure not worth it in the long run.

Thanks. Oh and btw, the kid's a freakin STUD! Also, it was refreshing see him score, give props to his lineman and handing the ball to the official...

It's something that I always see in high school but it seems to leave them after that...

Saw him first hand earlier this year against Mason County. Didn't do much the first half, BC made their adjustments and Faris went wild. Not blazing speed, but has an uncanny ability to see the field, shake the first tackler and pile up the yards.

I watched the game also and was very impressed with not only his football skills but he carried himself with class ( as others have mentioned) and represented the Boone Co. program very well.

Cory made a verbal commitment to UK baseball sometime ago. His aunt is one of my best friends and his first love is baseball. He is a great kid and he will represent NKY well in whatever he chooses to do.

Lots of baseball people would wonder why he is risking injury especially given his position and the fact he is carrying the ball 42 times.

Why would any D1 football school use resources pursuing someone who has been upfront about Baseball (pro or college) being the choice after high school?

Well said.... Good luck to him with the wildcats!:ylsuper:

I agree that he is one fine RB, very hard to contain #4.

Actually I think he could be even better if Boone Co. used him better. Rarely do they run him outside. And why keep him into block out of the shotgun formation when passing? There are plenty of backs that could block and Farris has played receiver before. Just think how effective it would be if you had to cover him and the Duce out wide.

Totally agree with you, as if you had watched Cory play for Midland against some of the best College bound baseball players in the Country, then you would understand why the young man is not getting any interest from Colleges for football. He has signed with Kentucky (to play baseball) but if I were a betting man, I would bet he doesn't make it there, as I personally think some MLB team will draft him as one of the top 25 picks. You don't play for the Midland Redskins and play as well as he did this summer and not get major looks from the MLB. He has all the tools to play Pro.......and BTW he really is a great kid .....and remember he was only a junior while doing it..... He has an outstanding future in Baseball ahead of him.....

Coach Thompson said earlier in the summer that Cory was getting D1 interest but Cory refused to take any visits since he had committed to UK baseball.

Cory is going to go down as one of the top athletes in NKY history.
