Coach Hall is a great guy and a very good coach. I think if you put Warren on this team then they have a good record. They just lost too many good players to expect this team to be winning right now, but Hall will have them very competitive at the end of this season and for sure next year. As with the older 8th grade teams, I agree with the other posts. It is a whole different ballgame when these bigger, older 8th graders get to high school. All of a sudden people are the same size as them and better players. Breathitt is learning that the hard way. Shelby Valley is the same way in the 15th. Virgie and Dorton dominate at the middle school level, then they don't improve much after that. At the high school level, other teams watch more closely and all of a sudden things these kids used to dominate doesn't happen anymore. You just can't win on talent alone at the high school level. All coaches scout too well these days, they find player weaknesses and figure out how to shut teams down.

I would be shocked if anyone beats Magoffin "easy" this year at Magoffin. And I don't see Paintsville beating anyone "easy" right now no matter where they play them. They have no inside game, and their guards are not playing like they were expected to this year. I'll predict that Magoffin dominates the Tigers on the boards and pulls the mild upset!!

Probably #1 and #2 at this point but the 15th is as wide open as ever, so the rankings are worthless at this point. JC over Paintsville by 4.

The fouls did get one-sided but only because ER chose to start fouling the Panthers with around 3:30 to go. It look liked good strategy, but someone forgot to tell the "inexperienced" Pikeville team that they were supposed to miss pressure free throws down the stretch. The refs had nothing to do with this outcome. It was a great game with a great atmosphere....glad to see T.W. Oliver back to being loud again!! I couldn't hear anyhing in there, the PHS fans were crazy!!!

I am not so sure that they have played all that well all year. They did get on a roll in their own tourney but honestly they had a bunch of unknowns playing in it so no one really knows how good they really are.

Very nice win! Had Pikeville ever beaten ER?? I can't even remember their last 59th district win. I didn't expect Pikeville to get this big of a win this soon. They may be coming on faster than expected.

This will be a good game. I wouldn't be surprised if Breathitt beats them if they can keep Magoffin off the offensive glass.

Landon Slone is a very, very , very good player!! Remember, he is only a sophomore. And while I still think Paintsville is very beatable outside of their gym, everyone around the 15th has been having games like this one where they just stink it up. This is what makes the 15th so great every year!! It is always wide open!!

You are right in that everyone seems to be playing very hard that I have watched in the 15th. I guess I just didn't notice from the cheap seats that Pikeville was jawing. But also don't forget that Williams' is playing a bunch of freshmen and sophomores and if I am not mistaken #2 and #3 are both two of the young ones. He will break them from that bad habit very soon if I were guessing. I did think that Williams' technical fired his team up. It seemed like they were about to fold before he got the T.

So Helton and Rice were ejected??

I find that hard to believe! Doesn't JR Vanhoose keep the stats for the Tigers? Surely he wouldn't allow this tiny Paintsville team to break one of his teams' records, especially a rebounding record!!

You must have had a blue and orange shirt on. They protected Lowe all night! He is the best player in the region but he could have fouled out early. Anyway, great game to watch. Both teams played very hard. I don't think you can say Pikeville needs an attitude adjustment after the effort they gave. Trust me, I have watched them for years, their attitudes are why they are playing so hard every night!!!

Paintsville. They are always tough and seem to catch just about all the breaks from the men in stripes....but BMR has put in the time to get the breaks I guess!!

5-4 against a tough schedule isn't a bad start for the Warriors. There a lot of teams that would love to be 5-4 in this very balanced region. Come on Catfish have a little patience with the Lickcreekers!!

Talented?? They lost a lot of very good seniors last year. Branham was one of the top guards in the region and he is hard to replace especially this early in the season. May is a good coach and works very hard at this game, he will be fine and will battle it out with SV for the district title!!

Les' teams could press well at times also!! JC is very good but they play an awfully lot of people. Sometimes it is hard to establish a great defensive unit when you play so many people. You are right, they may win the 15th, then again they may not make it out of the 57th either!! They don' appear to be having much fun!!
