Coaches leaving after their kids graduate
KIDS FAN replied to buttels's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
It takes some careful planning to coach your own kid and be fair to him/her while being fair with other kids on the team. I admire coaches who can balance the two and still be successful and their kids and children still speak to them after four years. It is tough! Coaching is a thoughtless profession that often causes a lot of heartache but has the potential to be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life. Kudos to coaches who can balance the two. I would have done alot of things different but would not have missed it for the world. -

Well said Professor! The Owls have accomplished more with less students than anyone in the 14th. Their fans and staff are loyal and true. It would be a great place for a young coach to go and grow old in a program. Especially with the wealth of knowledge that is there to help him in Bobrowski and Turner if he needs it. Basketball in Booneville is a time honored tradition like no other. Good luck to the fans, players, and staff in finding the right fit. -
Will the ruling on Euton scare Zollo off at GRC?

Who are the coaches and assistants on the AAU team? The answer will enlighten a few of you! -

The KHSAA is slowly losing it's grip and teeth in Kentucky. Their inconsistencies and holier than thou approach will eventually cost them funding and support. It is already happening all over the state with their fundraising and I believe will lead to a change in the leadership at KHSAA. I do believe it needs to change from about the top 5 up. A complete sweep of the SS ( I mean KHSAA). Sorry! The money it takes to fight the appeals and negative press is a distraction to the purpose of the association. Their decisions have affected and effected kids all over the Commonwealth and it was kids that had no athletic futures and high school was the only venue they would ever play in but they stood on principles and would not allow them to play but turn the other cheek now that it is a high profile player or players. HYPOCRISY!!!! -

I think Hazard may be a top 10 team going into the start of the season. -

Who would want the job? It would be temporary and no long term committment from anyone! Any one who has a stable coaching job and position in education right now had better stay put. In case we haven't noticed, every school district in the state is facing cuts and the possibility of losing teachers. I would not want to be an educator and my living depending on my teaching job but my future in education based on my coaching job. Young coaches should be wary of old hornets nests that stay stirred up year in and year out! -
Kind of surprised me but I watched them play and they hit the ball well!

Greenup Co./Estill Co. Predictions
KIDS FAN replied to oldrambler's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
I like Greenup but this is a three game series. -
What is start time?
-
I said it 4 months ago that the winner would definately be from the 54th or 56th. I am really surprised with Lee in the 56th but they have played well. Hazard/Estill game could be a dandy if Hazard can score with Estill. Did Lee pitch Drake against Jackson city?
-
Powell had 776 kids enrolled the first day of school in 2007. I agree that Lee is doing something right over the past several years but can or will it continue? Also, I did not mean to take anything from Estill Co. They have quality kids, coaches and administrators that will always keep their programs competitive. Kudos to Estill, they make the 14th even better!
-
What happened?
-
Powell has close to 800 kids and it doesn't matter rather Estill is in the District or not! Powell hasn't went 2 years in a row and it has had nothing to do with Estill. If they beat Lee last year in the regular season then they don't play Estill until the finals and make the regional tourney. Powell outnumbers Lee better than 2 to 1. Powell should make the regional tourney every year in every sport.
-
Seen him play twice and he would make a nice addition to any high school team I have seen this year from Pikeville to Paducah. Congrats and good luck.
-
It is GC's to lose. They are solid!
-
No surprise here. Estill is the real deal.
-
Drake is very crafty and Powell just wasn't ready to play! Second year in a row Powell doesn't make it to the regional tourney. How long has it been since that happened?

Good choice and best of luck. -
It is part of the game! Period. To many people wanting to change the game and the way it has been played for years. As long as the integrity of the game is preserved and people are not getting hurt leave it alone. There are exceptions to every rule and if we had kids in armor plated uniforms eventually someone would get hurt so I know there are instances that throwing at a hitter may have backfired but it is still part of the game.

Easy now! A lot of solid teams in the 14th and the draw usually determines a winner.
