Jeremiah Tisdale is very quick with the ball. He can really create separation with his cross-over dribble. He gets to the basket and jumps very well. Nice player. I am not yet willing to compliment his shooting. He shot less than 25% from the 3 point line last season and a woeful 57% from the charity stripe. With a lot of repetition and better technique, he could greatly improve his poor shooting. With improved shooting, he could be an outstanding college prospect.

It is not often that you see a sub six footer totally dominate a game/tournament like Anthony Hickey did. Great stuff! Ritchie Farmer did it as well in the game versus Allan Houston and Ballard back in the eighties.

Eli Boggess was a joy to watch. Don't ever forget, good basketball players come in all shapes and sizes. This kid had a nice career at Woodford County.

It might be a little premature, but if the Ballard Bruins win the 7th region final versus Trinity, I see them rolling through the rest of the state on their way to the title.

I saw Jackson Davis storm the court yesterday after the Lafayette girls won the regional championship game. I was a refreshing sight to see. My guess would be Jackson is a very nice kid because my guess would be that he was raised right. He looked really young without the full beard and I wouldn't have recognized him because of that and the fact that not many 6'8" kids storm courts.

The issue with Rice and the reason that Jackson Davis was probably wise to commit and NOT sign the Letter of Intent is that Owl Coach Ben Braun is more than likely finished in Houston. He has won about 34% of his games at Rice and is currently about that same percentage this season (7-19). Had Davis signed the LOI, he would be in a lame duck situation. Jackson's father (former UK player, Johnathan Davis), has been through the process before and has played the situation correctly, in my opinion. Secure a very nice offer, but leave options open for any potential changes. The major change is the Jackson has had a phenomenal senior season. He has worked very hard and made dramatic improvement to his game, thus, more interest from the quality institutions he desires to attend.

I have been told that Florida assistant John Pelphrey loves Trent Gilbert's game. The Gators have a pretty good 2-star player right now in guard Scottie Wilbekin.

Two very similar teams. Neither team has strong post play so this game will be won on shooting and especially, free throw shooting. Both teams shoot poorly from the 3 point line (Henry Clay 31%/Bryan Station 27%) and the free throw line (Henry Clay 60%/Bryan Station 62%). When in doubt, I'll usually take the home team which is Bryan Station. However, since the game is being played at Henry Clay, I like the Blue Devils to advance to meet Scott County in the district finals. Low scoring game, in my opinion.

I have not seen Reese Ryan play quarterback. I have seen him on the basketball court and he has nice athletic skill. Reese Ryan will have a mega-year statistically in new Lexington Catholic Coach Mark Perry's Air Raid offense. MEGA!

I'll add another to the list. Robert Miller of Louisville Central and went on to make the University of Cincinnati Hall of Fame. Oh, and Jared Carter of Scott County and UK. The most interesting thing that I find about this thread is that we are going back 50+ years in time and have only named about fifteen players who were 6'10" or better. That means, on average, a big man comes along about once in every four years. Amazing in my opinion. Jim McDaniel of Allen County and Western Kentucky University gets my vote.

Trent Gilbert is a nice player. Great scorer of the basketball. Who knows what schools are looking at him? I really think he could be a sleeper on the next level.

The Rice Owls are getting a very nice player in Jackson Davis. This kid has really worked on and improved his game since he first played for Lafayette. Last night was one of the best individual performances I have seen in the 11th Region in many years. He plays both inside and outside (4-7 front outside the arc), rebounds, and plays defense. This kid really plays hard! He is impressive. The Mendenhall boys are doing a nice job at Lafayette. The Generals have a nice mix of young and veteran players and are my pick to come out of the 11th Region this season.

A student athlete who "greyshirts" is able to enroll in the university and take classes. The student athlete can not enroll with a full-time class load or else the clock (5 years to play 4 years) begins. Typically, with greyshirting, a the student athlete is NOT on scholarship since they are not a full-time student. The scholarship begins when they have full-time status, typically in January at the start of the second semester. I am not sure how this case is different.

I am guessing that Chuck Smith needs four more years in order to satisfy his 27 years of service needed to fully qualify for Kentucky teacher's retirement. He is 54/55 years old now and made some nice money while at UK to pad his retirement. I can see him retiring after working the Madison Central job for four years. He can lay his foundation and hand off the baton at that time.

Hard to believe it took this long. And then to do it on a Tuesday night, the same night as a big UK game. Who thought this one through?
