Final from West Jessamine.

Lots of points grab your attention, the fact that there were no overtimes make it even more incredible.

Mike Fields (@MikeFieldsNotes... definitely worth a follow for any HS fan) tweets that Darius Williams had 34.

West Jessamine was in the double bonus with 59.0 remaining in the first quarter! Lots of fouls and Free throws in this game. Donnie Lewis, Troy Black, PJ Corio, Dontell Brown, and Jordan Hurst all foul out of this one for the bulldogs while nobody fouls out for the Colts. West Jessamine 35-40 from the free throw line, PLD 17-22. Darius Williams finished with 34 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Dalton Peters finished with 33 for the Colts.

Close game through out, neither team led by more then 5 points the entire night. Credit to West Jessamine for hitting some tough shots down the stretch and connecting on their free throws. Troy Black added 15 for the Bulldogs and Taveion Hollingsworth had 11, all in the second half, after picking up 3 fouls in the first half for the Bulldogs. Peters is a nice tough player for West Jessamine I was very impressed with his ability to finish around the basket and also take his man out to the 15-17 foot mark and knock down some jump shots. Overall good game. Always tough to win on the road in the 12th. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season and into districts.

After hearing some responses on the Top Freshmen in the 11th, I'm really intrigued by Hollingsworth.

In the Dunbar/Lexington Catholic district game, I think that he and the Knight's Jarrod Griffin could be the X-Factors for either side.

As opposed to anyone from the 12th going to the 11th and winning???

The 11th is better and 12th region officials, from top to bottom, aren't as good. The top 2-3 officials in the 12th are solid but after that it is pretty weak.

Respect is to be earned. When is the last time they had a win in the sweet 16? I ask this because I do not know...

No clue. I think that has been a while. You'd think as good as the 11th is they could come down to the 12th and still win. Lincoln County went to LexCath the other day and won. It ain't hard.

So you're saying that the 12th region officials are more likely to be prejudicial in how they call the games than the 11th Region officials?

Frankly, I consider it pretty much a combination of the differences in how the game is played and the respect given (or not) by the officials to the teams & coaches. The 12th Region officials call the game much closer to what the rulebook calls for whereas the 11th Region (and 6th, 7th, 9th, 4th & some others) allow the play to be considerably rougher, with more contact, reaching & pushing, because they typically have bigger & better athletes (larger population = larger schools = more athletes from which to choose).

And if anyone IS prejudicial I would say that 11th official are just as guilty if not more so about totally ignoring or penalizing 12th region teams & their coaches' complaints about calls.

Ever coached against 12th region officials? I rest my case.

So the teams you coached weren't good enough to overcome how officials call the game? Gotcha. Don't schedule 12th Region teams in the future. :thumb:
