PRP visits Ballard in Week 0.

In the past, the KHSAA used total enrollment for football classification. In the case of a co-ed school, only about half of those students are male typically. In the case of an all male school, the KHSAA would double the total (boys) enrollment in order to account for all of the girls (who typically don't play football) at co-ed schools. Nothing sinister about it, just a way to get schools with approximately the same number of boys in the same class. The process has since been changed. Now the KHSAA classifies all schools based on male enrollment numbers. There is no need to double enrollment for all male schools.

If both teams win their district, they would play one another in the quarterfinals this year.

If KHSAA goes to 16 teams in A and 6A, when would that decision have to be made? Does anyone know what the process would be?

Scout.com has Parker listed as the #23 WR in the country in next year's senior class. No disrespect to the other fine young men mentioned here, but Parker is cleary the best WR in the county.

ColonelMike, I agree with most of what you said above. I think this could be a great situation for the right coach. Since I raised the issue of spring practice, I will clarify my comment. I'm not aware of anyone representing South Oldham making any comment about spring practice. My comment was simply meant to acknowledge that it will be difficult for the new head coach to do all that is necessary to have productive spring practices in time. Depending on the post-season success of the basketball teams, the 3 week period for spring football practice will begin on either Mar. 8, 15 or 22. If a coach is hired this coming Monday (March 1) AND one of the basketball teams makes it to the sweet 16, the coach will have exactly 3 weeks to hire a staff, get to know the team, issue equipment, train the staff, etc., etc., etc. That is the best case scenario. If a coach isn't hired for another week, or neither of the basketball teams makes the sweet 16, there will be less preparation time. I know that in some circumstances the KHSAA has granted exceptions to the normal schedule and allowed schools to hold spring practice later. I have no idea how often those requests are granted or on what grounds. Maybe someone with more info could provide that information.

ColonelMike, I'm guessing you won't tell us who has interviewed, but can you let us in on when they started interviewing, how many they intend to interview, or what is the timetable?

I wouldn't be suprised to see Coverdale apply. He's been promised the Trinity job for several years. He might be tired of waiting.

Coach J's team was up 14 - 7 at half against Trinity this year. Trinity is a great program, but finishing that game is NOT like a "run to the moon". (It is a pretty funny line though!)

It would be based on male enrollment.

This makes alot of sense to me. These are the two classes with the greatest disparity in the number of boys in the schools. Reducing the number of schools in these two classes is the best way to have schools playing against other schools of similar size.

Male hasn't played much press man coverage the last couple of weeks.

Look more carefully at the play Ballard ran. #30 was lined up in the tackle's usual spot, but #66 was on the line where the slot normally lines up. The play was absolutely legal. Ballard had 7 men on the line, 5 wearing ineligible numbers, and they threw to a player wearing an eligible number who started on the line. Don't make accusations unless you are sure you can back them up.

Ballard has won the last two meetings. I'll take Ballard by 10 in this one.

Ballard jumped out to a 21 - 0 lead in the first half. Fern Creek scored at the end of the first half to make it 21 - 7. Fern Creek scored twice in the second half to tie the score at 21. Ballard scored the final touchdown with a little over a minute left in the game. Fern Creek was completely unable to run the ball against Ballard (14 carries for 28 yards). Near the end of the first half, they abandoned the run. They played from an empty formation for almost the entire second half. Ballard, without their starting QB, had 43 carries for about 280 yards. Fern Creek played two defenders in man coverage on Devonte Parker all night. Parker set the school record for receiving yards in a season, with 1335 yards.

Ballard used three quarterbacks in the game, including a freshman.

Don't worry, rocktopper, the atmosphere was great, but certainly not as loud as either game last year at Trinity. The concern about the air horns was not disrupting Trinity's communication. The concern was that the horns might be confused for a whistle during a play.
