  1. I would say "stunned" is way too strong. Anyone with any real knowledge of it knows Beechwood will be tough team to beat in November.
  2. Elizabethtown is an independent school district, and John Hardin is in the county system. I've heard over the years that Etown has always had a number of students from outside of the city, but I'm not close enough to know what's going on.
  3. It was probably quickslick on another of his "greatest Class A team of all time" benders ...
  4. The biggest suspense of this game will be whether anyone votes for Hopkinsville in this poll ...
  5. Thanks ... it would be the nice if the KHSAA put it on the "football" portion of their website, too.
  6. One fan? That hardly represents the masses ...
  7. I don't know that it will be by a huge margin. Graves County and Marshall County seem pretty comparable and Mayfield just beat the Eagles 21-7. Throw in Higginson's absence, and it could be something like the Graves (21-7) or Murray (35-7) wins.
  8. Where did you see that? I can't find it anywhere on the KHSAA website. That there is any confusion is ridiculous. The only class that has rotating playoff matchups is 6A, and I think we all know the reason.
  9. Here's one that is worse. I'm told that District 1 in Class 6A is paired with the Louisville "superdistrict" in the playoffs. In the first round, Trinity is likely to be matched up with a winless Muhlenberg County team. Ouch, ouch and more ouch.
  10. What has happened to Elizabethtown's program? This one should be a laugher.
  11. Mills is done ... torn ACL. Marshall is improved, but their three wins are over McLean County, Ballard Memorial and a Calloway County team that just lost one of their best players. And Lone Oak beat them 26-0, so they have a ways to go.
  12. Mayfield should win handily, although they will probably be without a key two-way player for week or two at least. William Higginson (WR-CB) sprained his ankle, and his absence will be felt. Mayfield has also lost a pair of defensive starters and one (OLB Stewart Mills) is out for the year. The other one (SS Chase Sevic) is out for a few weeks with a broken arm.
  13. There was nothing wrong with the four-class system we had in place ... I would rather go back to that.
  14. 7 ... Carroll County 5 ... Eastern 3 ... Oldham County 2 ... Jeffersontown 1 ... Conner Oldham County
  15. 5 ... Lafayette 3 ... Lone Oak 3 ... Newport Catholic 1 ... Knox Central 1 ... Woodford County 1 ... Jeffersontown 1 ... Tates Creek 1 ... Middlesboro 1 ... Bell County 1 ... Dunbar 58
  16. Big difference between facing a Class A offensive line with only one returning starter and a Class 4A line from an established program in northern Kentucky. I'm still not sure Class A doesn't have a #1A and #1B right now.
  17. 7 ... Powell County 5 ... Breathitt County 3 ... Perry Central 2 ... Ashland 1 ... Knox Central Powell County
  18. Had to cheat, sort of, but finally found the year ... I'll let people guess until someone gets it right.
  19. My guess is sometime in the 1970s ... maybe in the 76-78 range?
  20. Heath rolled to the state title and beat Cumberland (and Maggard) in the Class A final. Mayfield beat Newport Catholic in the 2A final ... NewCath went for two and threw to Mr. Football Frank Jacobs, but a Mayfield player tipped it away. Tilghman lost to Owensboro 10-7 in the playoffs. Best I recall, that was the closest game Owensboro had in the postseason. Yes, 3A was loaded then ... Danville beat Hopkinsville for the state title in 1985, then dropped down to 2A and started their big run in 1987.
  21. I've been to Richmond a lot and I don't feel there is an accessibility problem ... you go to Lexington, then veer about 30 minutes south.
  22. Were they saying Elder was down before Trinity rolled into town?
