Congrats Red Devils! Props to the Redhounds; they came to play. Their QB was very tough and we really could not get any pressure on him all nite. Tyler Jones had another great game as did Kasey Clark and Jacob Sizemore. Roadtrip to Pirateland next week. Should be a dandy! :fight:

Maybe they needed the extra edge to get up for this game.

Corbin newspaper is reporting that the Russell Red Devil football team sent a funeral wreath to the Corbin Redhounds yesterday. This doesn't sound like anything that Ivan would have endorsed. Instead, it sounds like a motivational prop from their own coaching staff or boosters.

Well, gameday is finally here. This is will be a gutcheck for these defending champion Devils. Hope to see a solid kicking game and special teams effort. Defense needs to come out hitting early and often. If it's a passing attack that the Redhounds bring, linebackers and secondary need to ring their bells. Would love to see the O-line take control on the very first series. Russell 28 Corbin 17 Go Devils!!! :devil:

I was at the '04 game between Belfry and Russell. That old stadium should have been designated as the "12th man". Very intimidating place to play for a visiting team. I saw kids on the side of the hill; in trees, on roofs, it was unreal. The visitors had to sit on the same side as the home fans and the visiting team had their backs to the home fans. Again, very tough place to play and win for visitors. That game was very loud even though I felt that Russell had brought a good number of its own fans. Belfry definitely travels well as evidenced by last year's crowd at the "Hank". If it happens, I'm looking forward to seeing the new facility. Good luck Belfry!

Congrats Corbin Redhounds! I'm looking forward to your visit to Henry R. Evans Stadium. What kind of offense will my Devils see out of Corbin? You guys will no doubt get a healthy portion of the good ole-fashion Wing-T from Russell, not to mention a dose of passing just to keep things in balance. We too have suffered from a non-challenging district schedule this year as our only real competition came from the loss in triple OT in a non-district game with Ashland. Weather permitting, I think you find our facility and accommodations most inviting. Have a safe trip! :thumb:

Let the playoffs begin!!!! No disrespect to East Carter or Fleming Co. meant, but this game is truly the beginning of our march back to Louisville. Looking forward to seeing how we match up against the Redhounds. I'm hoping we execute and play with an intensity not yet seen this season. Hard hitting and hard running will serve us well. Wow! I was shocked to hear the score on this one. I thought JC would run away with it again, but it sounds like the Tomcats brought their "A" game to the nest this time. Goes to show you how important home field advatage can be. This one proabably goes in the win column for Ashland if played at Putnam. Congrats to Ashland on their season. Good luck to JC next week. (A shout out to Ashland fans; we would love to have your support next Friday at the "Hank" against Corbin. :thumb: )

Congrats Russell Red Devils! This was a very good total effort. The execution of the kicking game looked alot better, and the two missed PAT's looked very close. Thought the officiating crew was a little hankie happy in the first half as the holding calls could have gone both ways, but it seemed we always got caught. Kasey was typical Kasey. The Devil defense was very stingy on the run. Kudos to the coaching staff for preparation for this game as it seemed they had Fleming Co figured out all nite long.

Great "on the road" win for the program. Way to represent Rams! :thumb:

If I were calling the plays it would be the running game. They seemed to move the ball better against our defense with the run to the right side over the tackle. We adjusted for the second half though, so it may not matter.

Conventional wisdom says this one is in the books for JC. Ashland was soundly beaten when they met during regular season and one would expect more of the same. Especially since the Tomcats seem to have been in a decline of recent. I know they will play hard as any Ashland team does, but at the final buzzer the Tomcat nation will be turning their attention to the basketball season. Johnson Central 35 Ashland 10

I thought Kasey played with a renewed inspiration last week against East Carter. I could tell he was turning it up a notch for the playoffs. He can absolutley take over a game when he wants to. Look for more of the same this Friday nite. :ylsuper:

I predict that the Raiders will make some noise next year. They are a young team with a very good coach and with Carroll at running back instead of QB, the offense will be much more of a challenge to other district teams, including the Devils. But this game will be all Russell.

East Carter is a young football team. They do, however, have a great coach in Damron. Unfortunately, this senior laden Devil team will be way too much for East in this one. Ivan has to let the first string play longer for playoff conditioning. That alone cranks the score board up.... Russell 54 East Carter 7

This game is tough to predict, but I will go ahead and give it a try. I believe the edge has to go to Mason Co. in this one for several reasons. The Mason County coaching staff was able to attend Saturday nite's game in mass for scouting purposes (Thanks Mr. Swift!). It's always difficult to beat a good team twice. Finally, rain is forecasted for Friday nite and the Tomcats have never played in any type of precipitation. (Can playoff games be postponed???) Mason Co. 17 Ashland 14

I don't really know what happened to GC. I do know that there are many alums who are trying to get the program back on track, but it has been slow going. There are freshmen and sophomores on the team that have been used to winning. It's probably these kids that will step up and put GC back on a competitive track. Maybe next year will be different. I wish them all the luck. :thumb:

Congrats Devils! This was the kind of game that we needed. The defense was challenged and they answered. Tyler Jones was a beast running the bootleg. There are several Panthers waking up to some sore muscles this morning from the hits he laid on them at the end of several plays. Panthers are to be commended for showing up with a good game plan and a lot of heart. Russell's talent and strength up front was just too much for them to overcome. We'll probably have round two in a couple of weeks, but this time we will be in the comfortable confines of "The Hank". Flemingsburg's facility is lacking for proper visitor side seating. Then you had the fans on the other side yelling for us to get off the track and behind the fence. That's a joke IMO. The Panther fans will definitley have better accommodations when they come to our house. They can watch their team's demise in comfort. :ylsuper:
