I coached against the Stanton kid for One year in the FTJFL. He was a very nice player and could of most definitely helped the Highlands Football program if they stayed in Ft Thomas. Daddy would of been a handful but Ft Thomas along with many other Quality programs, wouldn't be the place to think that your kid is bigger than the program/school. The results would of been the same. Stanton would be making Videos of Highlands right now. Right?

It's definitely has been a Challenge. When I sat down with my Family to talk to them about the Freshman Job at Highlands, they knew we would have to make many sacrifices. No more pregame tailgating for Coach. No more Post game Parties for Coach either. I sometimes wonder if my Wife resents me doing it because of some of the things she and I had to sacrifice together? Who am I kidding, she just goes and does that stuff without me. LOL! She wouldn't change a thing about our/my Coaching situation. She was born and raised a Bluebird and knows what time it takes to be a quality program. She knows my passion I have for my Program and the enjoyment we get as a Family making High School Football memories together as a Family. When Coach Sphire approached me about the Freshman Job 4 years ago the 1st thing that came to my mind was, will everyone still talk to me when this is all over? I knew going in that you will never make everyone happy. Not going to happen. It's how you manage Coaching Kids in your Hometown and find a happy medium. I knew what I was getting into. Freshman Football is still a HS sport and it is our Jobs to teach Kids how to compete and hopefully Win a few ballgames along the way. Would I go back and change anything that I have done along those 24 years of coaching Youth in Ft Thomas? Nah! I am having a blast being a Head Coach in the Town that I grew up in. Go Birds!

Made the trip this past Sat to Belfry to pay our respects to one of the Greatest to ever do it. We got there right at 3 and were fortunate enough to meet with Family and Friends. It was very crowded! The outpouring Love Coach Haywood blessed on so many People was truly evident. The Belfry community was very blessed to have such a Great Coach/Mentor to all of his Players of the years. Coach Haywood was Highlands Coach Bob Sphire's OC at Meade Co when he QB'd back in the day as one of his very 1st gigs. Coach Haywood has seen it all over the years that's for sure. He will be truly missed so many.

I drove by the other day. It's looking like it's coming right along.

Could of been a letdown game after playing Duke but I thought the Cats just went out and played their game. A lot of work to be done but I like watching the Cats play. It's been a while since it's been enjoyable to cheer for Kentucky Basketball.

We have a person that keeps it for us on Friday Nights and is pretty spot on. We have never been told to put them away. Some frown upon them at times but it speeds up the game and takes the guess work out of time management. Why wouldn't you want play clocks? It holds everyone accountable. There is nothing worse than a opposing team holding you hostage because they know how to abuse the time. On the Frosh level it's really frustrating. Especially when a Crew forces a 8 min Quarter. Every kid on that field has prepped and practiced since Feb and to be told that we are going to take a full 10 quarters of play away from their season. That is also something else I would change. 10 min minimum quarters on Freshman/JV Football. It's still a High School sport and not PeeWee Football. Mandatory Play Clocks! It will change the game....

No if all would win it would go like this.....The current RPI as it stands. Highlands #7 at Cooper #1 Bowling Green #5 at South Warren #2 The Ryle loss killed Highlands. They would be more than likely the #2 with the win.

This is spot on....Kentucky will also not be the same Team in a couple of months. Both Programs got better last night by playing in this Venue. I would of been okay with any turnout. Just compete Baby!

I believe all games are being moved from 10/31 to 10/30 to avoid Halloween Night. I know Highlands is playing on 10/30.

We appreciate the good review. We like to think we just do things right in Ft Thomas. We hope that everyone's experience at David Cecil Memorial is a memorable one for sure. Definitely a product of the current state of the Program.

Beechwood did a pretty good job containing the Birds for about the 1st 15-1/2 minutes of the game and keeping the score to 0-0. And then the last 4-1/2 mins of the half, Highlands scored 21 points going into halftime. Highlands did miss the PAT on their 5th Touchdown to avoid the running Clock. With Subs early on in the 3rd, the clock never really ran.

Yeah you're right. Highlands had the ball inside the 10 yard line 2x and didn't score. They turned it over once on downs and another on a Interception I believe. They get 50! Maybe next time. On to the next opponent.

Yes Dixie reached out a few weeks ago to see if the game could be moved. Dixie at Highlands Freshman game 9/4 6:00 p.m.

Highlands vs Covington Catholic start time is now Scheduled for 8 p.m.

Highlands vs Covington Catholic Freshman has been moved to 7:30 start on Thursday at Highlands.

Both QB's are not Live on Tuesday. Just like last year. Probably why things were very Vanilla by both programs in previous Pre season matchups.

Spot on Coach....Both teams should both have exceptional years. Too bad but also good that Two of the better teams in NKY in my opinion will be playing one another for High Stakes. Let's get it rolling already!

Those numbers are correct. Just laying in the Weeds. The Birds have Nine Varsity lineman ready to go. 285lbs is the Average across those Nine. Of those Nine only Two are Sr's with One of them missing most of the season last year with an ACL tear against Covington Catholic. Long time Highlands O-line Coach Scott Turner has said that this Group the next couple of years will be his Biggest. His best yet is still to be determined!
