It's Highlands vs. Cov Cath for a second-straight year in the Northern Kentucky Freshman Regional Championship.

Last year the Colonels knocked off the Bluebirds in the first week of the freshman regular season, but then the Birds came back to tell them who boss was come October, with a commanding 49-14 win in the championship game. This year the Birds took the regular season opener, beating Cov Cath 34-19 back on August 29th. Will the Colonels come back and exact revenge in the finals? Or is Highlands going to extend their freshman win-streak over Cov Cath to three games with a second-straight win in the NKY freshman title game?

Kickoff is at 6:30pm on Wednesday evening at Highlands' David Cecil Memorial Stadium.

I know Mason County isn’t good and it was at the end of a blowout, but Evan Link made a few plays and blocked a punt on defense in the 4th qtr. His size, instincts and quickness at linebacker ? Good player.

If my memory serves me correctly, Evan Link was not the QB for Cov Cath at the time of their first matchup. Could look like a very different game on both sides of the ball given the length since they last played. Excited for this one, should be a good one!

In the first matchup Dylan Courtney was at QB for Cov Cath and. Evan Link came in as starter at week or two later, after Courtney was injured. Courtney was back as starter last week, though. I suspect that the varsity coaches like Link at middle linebacker too much to keep developing him as a starting quarterback. But regardless, I expect Highlands is going to see another game with Dylan Courtney starting at QB on the other side of the ball.
